Just joined this group and only been with MFP for a couple of weeks, so I'd love to make a few friends . I am 4 weeks post op from a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy and absolutely determined not to put on weight as a result of being flung into menopause :noway: .
I decided to try to lose a bit of weight in February, when I knew I was going to have the op, so I could get my BMI below 25, and with the help of another paid for site I managed to lose about 10lbs pre op. I've since lost another 7lbs which I'm really pleased about. My BMI is now about 23.6. I'm feeling really good! Ideally, I could do with losing another 7lbs but while I'm recovering I'm really trying to maintain my weight.
However, as I'm supposed to be taking it easy I can't do exercise so I'm being really careful about my calorie intake in the hope that I won't put anything back on!! I've had plenty of time to read about post-menopausal weight gain and I'm convinced that it doesn't need to happen if you are careful what to eat and exercise appropriately. So I'm eating healthily for menopause and will be incorporating some exercise as soon as I am able!
Good luck to all on your individual journeys
