My whole life I have been the type of weight loser where I drop 3-5 lbs really fast in the first month then I slow way down to 1-2 lbs per month. I find this frustrating but I am wonder if slow is better or if I should try the "Metabolism Reset" recommend in the EM2WL group??
Any suggestions??

well... firstly I think that's a quite normal pattern of weight loss
as for the metabolism reset... the point is to restore/repair your metabolism if you've been using very low calorie diets (under BMR, especially). If you've been at a moderate deficit, maybe you can just jump into a cut- but I'm sure no matter who you are, if you've been dieting for a while (like more than a month?) a reset is probably recommended.
edit to add- Yes, slow is better. Slow means you're probably doing it "right" and not losing lean body mass (muscle), just fat. Which is obviously ideal.0 -

The idea of this this way of weight loss is to never have to have another cycle of dieting again. Since you say you have been a yoyo dieter all your life, I would venture a guess you have been VLC to get there. Hence, when you start eating "normally" again, the weight gets back on and off you go again on another cycle.
By resetting at TDEE for a period of 4-8 weeks, you are telling your body that you are no longer going to starve it. Yes there will be gains in the beginning, and yes it is horribly frustrating, but you are doing it this way, so you never again have to yoyo your weight.. never again have to worry about whether or not that extra 50 calories is going to kill your day, and never have to eat 1200 cals and starve yourself again.
SO yes, slower is definitely better:)

I guess one of my fears is that I have only lost 14 lbs so I gain back 5 or 6 lbs on a "reset" I'm afraid it will take me another 3 months just to lose the reset lbs.0 -

It might. cant be certain either way. But wouldnt you rather gain back a few of those pounds (even though they are water weight) and then lose them the "right" way now, rather than starve yourself down to your goal after months and months of it, only to gain them all back?
This is where the term "short term pain for long term gain" really does come into play:)0
