We are ready to get it!!! To follow are the "rules" for the Sweat Fiends weight loss challenge. Our goal is to lose over 100 lbs collectively before our Mud Crusade on 9/15/2012. Remember that it takes a 3500 calorie deficit to lose a pound (whether that be achieved by exercise, decreased food intake, or a combination of both), and we all should be shooting to lose one to two pounds per week.
If you want to lose 1.5 to 2 pounds per week, you need to commit to burning either 700 calories/day, five days/week, or 584 calories/day, six days/week, or 500 calories/day, seven days/week. You will need to burn these calories in addition to strictly sticking to your Myfitnesspal calorie goal (of course excluding calorie credit for exercising).
If you want to lose 1 pound per week, you need to commit to burning either 400 calories/day, five days/week, or 334 calories/day, six days/week, or 286 calories/day, seven days/week. You will need to burn these calories in addition to strictly sticking to your Myfitnesspal calorie goal (of course excluding calorie credit for exercising).
Depending on your size and workout intensity, you will burn between 350 and 500 calories during our Boot Camp workouts, and of course, we only work out three days/week. To achieve the above calorie deficit, it may take two-a-day workouts on Boot Camp days, and you will have to get it in (for real) on non workout days. Are you ready? I know you are.
Caution to those who will try to get your calorie deficit by restricting your food intake too much. This is not advised as your body will resist by decreasing your metabolism and it will actually make it more difficult to lose weight. There are no short cuts. We need to start strong and finish strong, and at the end of it, we should all lose at least 20 lbs each!
We will weigh in on Monday, so the eating part of our challenge starts today! Don't make the mistake of trying to "get it in" one last time this weekend, which will set you back. Eat sensibly, and I'll see you on Monday. Oh yeah, please bring your kettle bells and jump ropes for Monday's leg workout.
