Oh, Crap

I'm signed up to do my first 5k this Saturday, and I'm pretty confident that I am trained for it - I've only made it to W8D2, but I'm hitting 3.5 miles including the warm up and cool down walks, so I'm not too concerned.

However, I just checked the forecast for Saturday. A high of 103 degrees (F) with "Blazing Sunshine." The "RealFeel" temperature is forecasted at 111F.

Holy. Crap.

Any tips besides hydrate, hydrate, and hydrate the day before?

Oh, crap is right! Hydrate times infinity!! Also, don't try to set any sort of record. Be happy that you are running your first 5K!

Jeez, I am an New Englander so I could possibly melt in those temps!!

Good luck! I am sure you will do just fine!

I ran into this same problem (except I wasn't doing as well in general with my runs as you are). It was definitely hard. Not gonna lie. I walked a lot. Plus, with the excitement of the first race and everything, my HR got really high before I ever left the starting line. That most certainly didn't help things either. Just enjoy it for what it is (your first 5K) and be in the moment. I realized that that was really all that mattered and I definitely have an easy time to beat when I run one again. Best of luck!
