But also reports that a high carb diet is the way to go ... http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/lifestyle/diet-and-fitness/a-calorie-is-not-just-a-calorie-20120627-211l7.html

I guess we are all wrong then, apparently we are headed for diabetes ... how so is beyond me :)

Everybody has a different way a diet affects them. For me, I was eating low fat and low calorie and not losing a lb. However, I'm in the beginning of LC, and although I've seen weight loss, I am way more sluggish and tired. Hoping that will pass.

Here is the kicker: Will someone be happy eating that diet and stick to it as a lifestyle the rest of their lives? I wouldn't.

If you are feeling sluggish, it could be you need to add some sodium! Since LC is a natural diuretic you lose a lot of water the first week and can be sodium/potassium depleted very quickly. Drink some salty bullion broth! It will do wonders for your energy levels!

Good advice, I've been having conversations with other people who didn't get on with low-carbing and nobody thought to add the sodium. They also didn't stick with it so didn't give themselves a chance to adapt.

Yesterday I was not only sluggish, but everytime I stood up, I blacked out a little. Did I remember to go eat some salt? No. I'm such an *kitten*! HA! I ate a small amount of fruit thinking it was sugar i needed. Didn't work. Then i realized I drank coffee all day and was dehydrated and drank a load of water to replenish.... it didn't work. I cannot BELIEVE I forgot about sodium (which I sweat out more excessively than most people).

I think I am going to make that broth part of my daily routine. I also (before low carb) would get low on potassium sometimes, too. Going to find a supplement today.

Man... I feel like I am taking A LOT of supplements. Do any of you? I have the multi vitamin, pro-biotic, and fish oil already. I wish all these were in ONE pill. Oh well!

That is interesting -- I wondered if I was dehydrated (despite drinking tons of water due to working out in the heat) and G2 Gatorade (even added a tsp of salt to the Gatorade after running in 90+F temps) the past few days, because Sunday I could not eat enough high-sodium foods! I just kept chowing down on the turkey bacon! I figured that low carb would actually cause water retention because of the foods being higher in sodium. Thanks for the tip!

Not sure if you are working out a lot, but I am in a running training program and our coach gives us Nuun tablets (you add them to water) to help us stay hydrated, since it has been 90 degrees F for our runs lately. You could also add a tsp of salt to a diluted G2 Gatorade (if that's allowed on your plan). When you dilute it, the net carbs are practically zero.
