Paleo and protein powder?

Is it okay to use protein powder on Paleo/Primal? I am using a whey protein powder for breakfast every morning. It is organic, from no hormone cows, etc and very clean as far as added junk. Also no added artificial sweeteners. I use it beause I HATE eating early in the morning but I am hungry. I add frozen broccoli and a few frozen/fresh berries and almond milk. That is it. By the way......I am also eating eggs and loving them! Just not first thing in the morning :tongue:
And I am losing weight and feeling great!! Thanks!

    My personal opinion is that protein powder is not paleo, since it's processed. But that doesn't stop me from using it occasionally. Sometimes I need a protein boost.

    Try to keep in mind the spirit of the "rules" rather than following it to the letter. More plant matter, more healthy, lean meats, more healthy fats, no grains, no chemicals, less processed junk. More foods consumed as close to their natural state as possible. It's up to you how far you want to take it.

    I would recommend you to eat some bacon since it could do all of the protien powder and it's far better than that. You will love the taste of bacon and it is a super supplement to fill your stomach. I have been eating bacon for last 4 months and it is so successful!

    I eat both bacon and use protein powder. I look forward to breakfast every morning knowing that I get to eat bacon!

    I use an egg protein powder-- dried egg whites, dried whole eggs and stevia. Processed, but not as much.

    I've been using Wegman's protein powder after getting back from the gym doing StrongLifts 5x5.

    It isn't paleo, but I use it after kettlebell workouts.

    thanks for your fedback guys........but now I have another question about bacon, as I am confused?? So bacon is okay to eat on paleo?? I was reading on Robb Wolf's website and he says this about eating paleo.

    "The Basic Paleo Plan

    Effective, lifelong fat loss is easy with Paleo foods. We recommend the majority of your meals look something like this:
    ■4-8 oz of lean protein such as chicken, lean beef, turkey, pork loin or seafood.
    ■Then add several servings of multicolored vegetables, either raw, steamed or lightly cooked.
    ■Finally, round out the meal with good fats from Avocado, olive oil or a handful of un-salted nuts such as almonds, pecans, macadamias or walnuts.

    So is he wrong?? Let me know what I can find info about what you can and cannot eat. Of course bacon would be lovely.......but don't want to start off on the wrong foot if possible.........

    I don't see anything in what you've quoted that would eliminate bacon from his version of Paleo.

    I do not consider bacon to be lean protein.....do you?
