Gotta love the sore muscles and the scale!

The one thing I always hate about getting back to lifting is the soreness and the water weight gain. To any folks out there who have never been on a lifting plan, expect weight gain temporarily. Sore muscles will surround themselves in water in order to help them to heal. So don't be suprised if you bump up 2% - 4% in weight. Keep going, after a few weeks, your weight will level out as your muscles get used to the demand.

Thanks for posting this. My goal is to gain at least 5 pounds overall but first have to lose the fat & build up muscle. I'm just starting out again after a 14 year hiatus.

I can attest to this. I went up a couple pounds and plateaued there for the first two weeks of strength training. Then (probably partly because I took a week off while hiking in the mountains) I was suddenly down three, even after resuming strength training.

Wow, thanks for the information. I was not aware of the weight/sore muscles component. Good to know! The sore muscles are worth it though because I can now 'feel' my muscles! gbers :)
