Wanted to say hi first of all,
and one of the things i have found is that the whole family needs to be in on it 100% if one is not they will make you feel like you are trying to change them even if it for there own good as well, i had a girlfriend that was not up to the idea of me doing this and she left me for some one else. I have a few friends that are female that wanted to do this (lap band, sleeve, or the gastric) and there husbands wanted to leave them if they did it or wanted to loose the weight, guess they where afraid the women would find a different guy. but like in the beginning everyone needs 100% from family it makes the weight loose so much easier.
For me i had the sleeve and now they want to do the gastric bypass as the finishing deal to the weight loose, and not so sure about doing that one as it will make some big changes to my life. Can some give me an idea if they would have done something different instead.

Looking at your profile, you had your sleeve in 2008. If you think you need a revision, the DS would naturally make sense. Have you talked to your surgeon about this?? I had RNY in 2008. I have lost all my excess weight and have kept it off. It was the right choice for me.

I agree that family support is so important. I have heard the statistics that divorce/break up rates were higher among those of us in the WLS community. I suppose sometimes it brings out the insecurities in the partner. Fortunately, my hubs is very supportive. I am 3 months post-op for the RNY. He is planning to have a VSG in December. I am curious as to why they want to revise your sleeve? I know many people that have had the sleeve and thats all they ever needed. I have been happy with my RNY so far. The only real "complication" I have had is that my gall bladder did not appreciate my nearly 70 pound weight loss in the last 3 months so I had to have it removed on Friday. I understand that is a fairly common thing to happen though. It was probably a good thing really because he checked my RNY while he was in there and found a kink in the bowel at the Y area and was able to straighten it out. That was probably the source of some of my abdominal pain and would have caused me issue in the near future. But, all things considered, I would definitely do it all again :)
