Almost 6 months out, sort of stalled...and sort of not

Hello All,

I am new to this group and I need the collective experience of you all to help me figure out what is going on here.

I got my band on 23 February. I was told to stay at around 1200 calories per day and I did that for the first three months, no problem. Then I was allowed to exercise again. By the time I started exercising again, I had lost 40 pounds. Over the past 10 weeks or so, I did notice that my calories were creeping up and I gained about 4 pounds over the past 10 weeks. (It may have had something to do with my mother in law coming to visit and staying for 10 days... nothing like a little stress to push you over the edge for awhile.) I went to see the doc on Monday and he put in another fill, giving me 3cc in there. Well, let me tell you, I am very restricted now. From comments I have read here and in other forums, I am eating too fast, or too much, or both because I keep getting the hiccups every time something goes down. Also, the doc told me to keep to 1100 calories per day too. So far, this isn't a problem at all because nothing is staying down! If I take more than an ounce of anything, the pain is horrendous and it all comes back to visit. So, I am back to losing (down almost 3 pounds since Monday), but I am having real difficulty getting anything in. Even water is coming back if I take more than a teaspoon at a time.

So, go back and get some of the fill taken back out? Or adjust to what is happening now and keep on going?

I do exercise every day -- three days of running and three days of cycling per week.

Thanks, and I am looking forward to hearing what everyone has to say.

Leslie

  • It sounds like for being as far out as you are he may of added to much to fast. I had my surgery the end of feb as well and I know at first he added quite a bit but as time has gone one they will only ad about a half of cc each time for fear of me not being able to swallow anything..they said doing to much to soon can set me back... can I ask how many cc's you are at? I am at 7.5cc's now and from 6 cc's on up they have been giving be half one month and half the next.
I hate to say this but either you slow WAY down on your eating and you take extremely small bites, and chew chew chew or go back and have them take some out. I know its not the ideal situation, but I think it is better then continuing to throw everything up. I personally have experienced a little of the throwing up because I eat to fast when I stress out and it is no fun I could not imagine going from say 4cc's-7'cc's over night. that is just crazy. The only time my doc added 3 cc's was in the beginning. please keep us posted on how you are doing. I wish the best for you on this journey.

If you are at the point where you aren't able to keep water down, CALL THE DR. asap! You risk dehydration and lord knows what other health issues. ALSO if you are exercising and such, you are probably putting on some muscle... stay off the scale! A pound of fat by volume is larger than a pound of muscle. Use a mirror to judge your weight loss; how you feel in your clothes feel; how your husband looks at you; how your friends encourage you! It's a journey, the band is a tool. You can do this! Try going back to an all liquid diet, make sure you are getting lots of protein, and only a small sip at a time... even if it takes you and hour to get it down, don't try to force it.

Let us know how you're doing, but CALL THE DR.
