When do you start a "new day"? Midnight or sleep?

I'm often up when midnight comes and goes. MFP starts a new day at midnight, but I can't decide if I want to track my food and exercise based on the day ends at midnight or when I go to sleep and start the new day when I wake up.

If I eat after midnight, I log it the next day. It doesn't really make a difference, I think the weekly totals are what matter.0

I work alternating night and evenings shifts and often find myself snacking in the middle of the night. I plan a snack for two am or so and log that on the day before. Then if i eat anything after that I log it as the next day.0

My sleep patterns have been wacky lately, so to keep things simple and consistent, my new MFP day starts at midnight.0

My new day starts after I wake up! Pre-workout snack or breakfast are my first cals for the day. If I am going to be up late and partying until 3am that night, I plan for it. One time I had to travel at night and needed extra snacks after midnight plus there was a big time change but I logged those cals for the previous day.0

Sorry, I usually eat dinner around 9-10 pm, so I don't get hungry when I wake up~0

When I wake up, THAT is a new logging day!0

Thanks y'all!! I have been letting midnight be my switch, but I think I'm going to start letting it be sleep.

I always consider it a new logging day after I wake up, not at midnight. I'm like this with everything else in life, too. It's not a new day unless I've been asleep, I don't care what you say!0

I agree with starting a new day after sleep b/c your body is at rest for those few hours and it seems like your body kind of knows that after that break from moving around and such that it is a new day...At least that is how I see it..0
