Anybody worked with a nutritionist?

I'm in counseling right now and working with a nutrition coach and a fitness coach. So far I think the counseling has done more for my habits. I am working on a non-judgemental approach to my habits. Like okay, this happened, lets look at it and think about why and grow from it. I am not perfect, and I don't expect to be perfect. But maybe I'm just being defensive because someone is taking a close look at my successes and failures.

The nutrition info just seems hollow to an extent. Or something, can't put my finger on it. Education plays some part in doing better, I really do believe "If you know better, you do better". But in a lot of areas i DO know better, but it hasn't stopped the eating-regretting-beating myself up-eating cycle.

Just curious if others have thoughts about this. What has worked for you? What hasn't? As far as support systems.

I worked with a nutritionist for several months leading up to my lap-band surgery. She taught me a lot about behavior change, which is similar to what a therapist would do. I made small changes like not eating in front of the TV or computer, not eating in the car, going grocery shopping "backwards" (starting with dry goods, ending up in produce, so I wouldn't end my shopping trip with donuts, which was a big thing for me), examining emotions that were connected with binge episodes, trying to identify triggers, etc. I had weekly appointments with her which kept me accountable. It was definitely a good experience. Now I have a different nutritionist who gives me advice re: my diet with the lap band. She's more cut-and-dry than the other one, but it works for me now because I also have a therapist I just started seeing.
