so far I have dropped about 60lbs of fat and put on muscle in the process. No secrets of course, just trying to watch my intake, eat clean, and hit the gym. I work out 3-4 days a week, zero steady state cardio but very high intensity when in the gym. Having my wife with me during this process is a big key to our success.
My trainer asked me to get some before and after pics, as he is going to put them on his website. I found one pic, that was a bit depressing to see, even though it was during a very happy time in my life. the sad part is that this was not my heaviest but I think i was successful in destroying all photos or avoiding the camera. lol (I KNOW I am not the only one to have done that)
this is one of my before pics.

what i call a "during" photo, as i am not to my goal yet. I tried to emulate the above picture, except the jeans are many sizes smaller (34's, as compared to 48/49 in first pic) I also had to get another yellow shirt as the 3xl in the first pic no longer fits so i substituted for a different yellow shirt in a size large.

Great job! Glad to hear your wife is changing her lifestyle along with you, I'm sure that makes it much easier and will help your change last a lifetime. Keep it up!0

thanks guys.
I think the big message is that i feel so much better, and have not felt that im depriving myself of anything I "need". I think MFP is a big part of it, being aware of what we are eating/drinking was huge for us. It was also a change of mindset, and I still see illogical thinking from unfit friends. they say that they enjoy their "treats" and refuse to give them up. what they are missing is that something you have every day is hardly a "treat", its more of a dietary staple. we still enjoy a treat, but it more fits the definition of treat "A source of a special delight or pleasure"
at dinner last night two friends were asking what I did to get in shape. one was commenting that he does not like to lift, but he loves swimming. lifting works for me, but I guess the key is to get our butts moving and do something we enjoy.
have a great day!
