Sore hips

Hi all,
I just did week 3 day 2 today and even though I thought I would have a tough time with 3 minutes running, it's been alright. EXCEPT for the extreme tightness in my hips when I am done. Yes, I do the warm up and cool down...no I'm not running especially fast (approx 9 min kilometre), yes, I stretch after, and my shoes are almost brand new... I even bought one of those foam roller things that are supposed to release your fascia after a workout, which is supposed to make you less sore. I find that the roller helps when I have soreness or tightness after one of my weight training days and it does help my calves, hamstrings and quads after a run. But the hips....not so much. It gets so bad that I often have to take a few minutes to completely stand up if I've been sitting for a little while.
My massage therapist says it's my IT band...anybody have this type of tightness (it just feels like a rubber band that's stretched wayyyyy too tight)? IF yes, any suggestions for stretches or tips on how to get rid of it?
I don't seem to have any issues with the cardio aspect of the running, but it's my hips that are making me a little frightened of the weeks to come and additional time actually spent running.
thanks.

I was like that when I first started but it seems to have loosened up as I went thru the program. I don't really stretch before I run, I know I should I just don't. How often are you running? Maybe try a different surface? If you run on the road try a track for a day or two see if it helps. Sorry I couldn't be more help.0
