What is an ideal body fat percentage? I went to the center and did my body compostion test and they told me that my body fat should be at 25%. I think this is too much.

I hope this posts right but this is what the American Council on Exercise says...

    *General Body Fat Percentage Categories

    Classification

    Women (% fat)

    Essential Fat

    10-12%

    Athletes

    14-20%

    Fitness

    21-24%

    Acceptable

    25-31%

    Obese

    32% plus

At 25% you would fall into the acceptable range for body fat per the exercise council. I am shooting for fitness level of 21-24%. I hope this helps.

I would say dont be too concerned about body fat percentage right now just be sure you are in the healthy range and as you get closer to your goal weight you can tweak and get lower than 25% BF if you want:)
  • I think you will find 22-25% is a very lean range for women. We naturally store fat in our behinds and chests and around our vital organs. For a woman to go below 20%, she either has to be anorexic (which is unhealthy) or in the gym 3 hours a day like a professional athlete (runners, gymnasts, etc.). Most female supermodels have about 12-15% body fat.
