half marathon in february is my plan

I have given it much thought and decided best to wait on full in new orleans and try to just get through a half in february locally. My energy level is still lacking due to no thyroid since Oct 2010 and medication still not where it should be unfortunately. I will keep trying to trudge forward...this will be my first time training solo without a LLS team and luckily live only 3 miles from the beach but will still need the enthusiasm to get out there.
I will begin on Saturday with 15 out and 15 back, then 1 mile on monday, two miles on wednesday, cross train bike on thursday. Does anyone use the Galloway run/walk method??? I really miss being active and in fact, have not been active really much since I adopted my two children in 2008 prior to medical concerns. Ready to make myself important! Any advice is appreciated:) Thanks everyone!!!!

I use the Galloway method and have for 5 of my 7 half marathons. And my time has been improving with each race.
For training I do a ratio of 4 minutes of running and 1 minute of walking, but for races I do a 5:1 ratio. This works well for me and my pace because then I tend be able to time every other walk break around a water station.
I'm not a fast runner, my goal every race is to complete it. It has been nice finishing the race faster than I anticipate I will!0
