That age old question... What did you do?

So every time I get on the motivation board to inspire myself by looking at before and after pictures, they are inevitably followed by at least 5+ people saying... "What did you do", How did you do it"? Time and time again, what I see is successful people responding with, in one form or another... "eating better and exercise", with no one certain "method" standing out as the "winner". It makes me wonder, why is it that we are always looking for an alternative to the one thing that seems to clearly work.. a quick fix, or fad diet, special workout etc. I am finally seeing that maybe it matters much less if it is Pilates, yoga, p90x, insanity, walking or whatever. But that instead what seems to matter is that exercise, combined with calorie conscientious healthy eating will ultimately lead to success.
I think if we, (myself included) spent more time focusing on and making time for the basics instead of looking for the magic answer, success will follow.
I believe this is illustrated by the fact that those that put in the hard work, whether it be low carb, low fat, eating back or not eating back exercise calories, all doing various forms of exercise, all have proven that they can and do lose the weight... So what is the common denominator??
Putting in the effort, and doing the hard work! It is not easy, there is no quick fix, and the sooner we (I) embrace this, the better off we (I) will be
Just a thought....

Yes, both times I have been successful at losing weight, it has been because I diligently tracked food. The first time I didn't even exercise (I was younger and pre-kids, lol)!
It's 'magic'.0 -
True!!! People ask me how I've lost almost 50 pounds in a year, and I tell them "The old fashioned way...Diet and exercise!" And they are always dissappointed.0

I'm at 65lbs lost now (within 8 months) and your right...instead of looking for the magic pill or solution, just put in the work and the results will come. I plan on keeping it off. I continue to track my food (this site helps me alot) and use others around me. They know what I'm doing and they offer support. In some cases even doing it with me. So with that being said...just do it. 25lbs more to go. Good luck on your journey. If you need help I'm here or anyone on this site...your not alone. And most of all you can do it for U. Yes just for u. Early christmas gift. A healthier U. Bye!!!0

I think it's links up with the whole pace of life being faster than before: there's almost an instant 'cure' for anything but wieght loss is still only sustainably achieved with good old effort.
Thanks for the reminder :flowerforyou:0 -
I concur... I am trying to get my body right with diet and exercise, watching what I'm eating, etc.
My friend is on Alli and she was giving me grief about how she's getting faster results than me, and I looked her square in the eye and said "Yeah, you are getting faster results than me, sure; but I don't have to worry about anal leakage." Hahahahahaha0
