Hey all!
I joined MFP a few months ago, but started tracking last week. Lost 10lbs! Water weight? Probably. Still excited? OH YES!!! I have a back story that explains why I want to run.
In April 2011, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I was 23 (24 now). I went through chemotherapy only and was placed into remission October 2011. Through that process, I gained 30lbs (odd right?). My biggest weight that I hit was this past month at over 270lbs. I began MFP at 266lbs and as of Sunday, I am at 256 (YAY)!!!
I explained this because the friend that suggested MFP now runs after losing over 90lbs. She mentioned the Disney Marathon and that she wants to run it in 2014. I researched it and found that the proceeds go to Lukeima and Lymphoma research and awareness. What better way to raise awareness than to run the marathon while in remission for the exact cancer that the run supports!
I know that this might not be attainable in 2014 since I do not have my lung capacity back yet, but I have been doing my best to work out every day. I jogged for the first time since 2006 yesterday and was able to run for a total of 12:00 in 3 various timed intervals! It was an exciting moment for me!
Any advice/support is welcome. I have always wondered about the C25K program and would love to run a 5k this fall.

Hi there! I'm just starting C25K again (today!) after trying and losing interest a few times in the last year. This time, I'm ten days into tracking my food and eating better; I'm hoping that my new commitment to daily exercise will last this time and that I will stick with it. I'm hovering just over 250 right now, and I'm afraid of hurting knees and joints if I do too much too fast. I don't see myself ever wanting to run a marathon, but i'd love to be able to do 5Ks for charity once in a while.
W1D1 felt like a workout today but not an impossibly hard one, so I'm hopeful. Good luck to you too!0
