Gaining inches and muscle?

Hi all,

I spoke to my trainer today and mentioned that I was putting on weight. She said that unless I'm binging on alcohol and crappy food all day long, it's most likely muscle. However, my clothes have been a bit more snug lately after gaining about 5 pounds. Is it possible that my measurements would increase from muscle gain?

I eat pretty healthy most days of the week but on weekends, I will indulge in some sugary sweets and eat out but I don't think it would be enough to cause me to blow up, especially with the amount of activity I do. Would some of you mind looking at my diary?

Also, I'm cutting back on cardio for two weeks in preparation for my upcoming half marathon 12 days from now. Should I adjust my caloric intake?

    It's actually rather difficult to put on muscle weight BUT as you are building muscle you create tiny tears in the muscles that then fill up with water as they repair. It can take days to weeks for this water to leave your body. And also as you begin to ear more many people get bloated from the extra intake of food which can also cause your pants to feel tighter.

    your diary looks great. Are you hungry? If I was in training for a 1/2 and only eating 1600 calories I would be STARVING - fuel is REALLY important for runs, so just make sure you don't feel hungry! Like I said before, It is really common for runners to gain weight while training for such a long run because your body does retain way more water. Your body also stores glycogen when you are long distance running.

    If you google it you will find TONS of article on gaining weight while training for long races (usually about 5-7 lbs) and it will probably drop back down when your cardio drops back down.
