Forcing yourself to eat????

I am trying to remember about how long it took me to lose the appetite. You know, the point where you literally have to force the calories down. Since starting back on LC on Monday, my appetite seems ravenous but I know that time will come when I will not want to eat.
I also can't remember if when beginning to LC if calories matter. If I recall, I do not think I should worry about them right now. I do remember not counting calories last time. I dont think I started counting until 3-4 weeks into it. But anyway, how long did it take you to get to the point where you had to force yourself to eat?? I cannot wait until I am back at that point!

I have been LC for the last 6 months. The first month or so I was hungry all the time but then around the 1-1.5 mark I started to notice the cravings were totally gone.
The last Month or so I have been having to force myself to eat breakfast because I know eating only 600-800 a day is not healthy! This morning I just couldnt even eat all my breakfast because I wasnt hungry at all I try to aim for 1600 a day but the last week I have been forcing myself to even get 1200.0 -
This morning, I prepared 13oz worth of steak tips with a seasoning rub.
Cooked one egg
Cooked about 1.5oz of fresh white mushrooms sauteed in 1TB of butter.
Got to work. I had the egg, the mushrooms, and half the steak. Im 'good' for probably the next 4-5 hours... The container is sitting right next to me, and Im not even influenced by it. I have no desire for it and my stomach is content.
Brought in 5.5oz worth of avocado to go with the other half of the steak for around lunch time.
Where I have been low-carbing as it is for almost a year now, I find it gets easier and easier to know when I have had just enough. In the beginning, it did take me a good month because of the radical change I was medically required to handle and address. Im fortunate enough to work in healthcare and have access to 300+ physicians in our network, and one of them is not only a person I work with, but I am also her patient. I have her email address and can send any questions her way. She is great returning them too!
I find for me, when I have the "sigh" while eating. That is my signal to stop eating. Ill wait a while before having more because at that point, my body has given me the signal "ok - you did good... we gotta work on this first"...
There is a learning process to really being in tune with your body's signals and responses. The difference between a true hunger pain and the light 'ache' that doesnt last longer than a couple of minutes.
Be extra diligent with your water intake, especially while low-carbing. Often there will be times when you think youre hungry, when in fact you are simply thirsty.... its a way of identifying the behaviors your body is displaying.0 -
Ten days. It was the strangest thing that ever happened to me. I still get a little scared when I lose my appetite completely.0

About a week and a half for me too, and I was a real sugar monster.
Regarding calories, I am still tracking because I like to compare the before and afters (I started MFP on low fat so it's interesting to compare meals from back then and the results).
My 'carbs consumed' graph looks like one day I had been taken over by aliens and altered forever
My calories have been pretty constant through both phases but I think I can handle some more now my body feels better balanced. I do have to remind myself to eat sometimes though, very odd compared to the bad old days of snacking every couple of hours.
They say that once you get the insulin sensitivity back and the hormones sorted the body can handle unneeded calories better so that is what I am going to track next. Upping the goal in 200 calorie steps and seeing what happens ...
More food. Good, whole, real food though0 -
I've only been low carbing since the end of March. Took a good 6 weeks for the cravings to go but from then on, my appetite has been greatly supressed. It's still a real novelty to me (and revelation!) to have a body that's not constantly craving food. I have days where I'm hungrier but I just eat rather than stuff and then I've had enough.... truly amazing.0
