Ideas for things to eat

I was trying to think of things to eat instead of fast food. So far I came up with eggs and oatmeal. Anyone else have any ideas? I am thinking of using the crockpot a lot more. I know skinnytaste.com has some good stuff.

Agree, the crockpot is so nice. I used to wake up and throw a bunch of stuff in it and go to work. When I come home its ready. I think the main reason people eat fast food is because of how fast and easy it is to get it. It takes a while to switch your habits to getting food ready and preparing meals. But I'm ready to do this. It's nice to do it with other people.0

Can you grill year round wherever you are? For "fast" meals we keep lots of protein on hand that we can quickly grill after work if we have things to do and no time to really cook. Some fish with a little Mrs. Dash and asparagus only took about 15 or so minutes last night. We make a salad on Sundays that generally lasts a couple days and that makes food on hand easy.0

Oh nice. We can grill year round, just sometimes it would be in the snow...haha! But the grill is easy. I love to buy a bag of skinless boneless chicken and put it in a casserole dish with seasonings and a little water and let it cook in the oven. Then I have grab on the go chicken for any meal.0

I saw a thing on Pinterest about taking one weekend to fix 45 freezer type meals all at once. Then all you have to do is pull them out, defrost, and reheat. I am going to try that when we get more settled in our new home.0

That's what my mom does; she puts things in the Crockpot in the morning, goes to work, and we have like beef stew for dinner. So good!0 -
Smoothies are always good too. They keep pretty well for a couple of days. I generally do some sort of smoothie for lunch because I have a job where I can't really get away from the desk. I made one today that was 1 cup light vanilla soy milk - 1 serving of peanut butter (2 tbsp)- and 1 packet of diet swiss miss hot chocolate.
285 cals
21 carbs
17 fat (kinda high I know- but the good fat- and you could just do 1 tbsp peanut butter)
15 protein
3 fiber
12 sugar0 -
This may be a stupid question, but how are we defining "fast food." For the purposes of our challenge, would Subway be in this category?0

I have this book called cook this not that (I believe thats the title). Its certainly not the healthiest cook book, but it shows you how to make your favorite restaurant meals at home in a healthier way. It also includes the nutrition info per serving which is very helpful.0

Is there going to be a list of the things that we can't eat during this 90 day no junk food challenge?0

I was wondering that myself!]0 -
I think that fast food would be anything that you can get in a drive-through. Also, Subway would still be okay, as you can put healthy options on there (Green Peppers, cucumbers, spinach, etc).
How about this to narrow it down - anything that is fried, or you can take the wrapper and wipe it on a wall to see through it - shouldn't be in your diary!0 -
Subway is packed with sodium. I think it will be a your call kind of thing! We will more than likely call you out if we see you ate Taco Bell, but we probably won't if you got something healthy at Subway. If you can get it through the drive thru, if you have to stand in line to get it, or if it is deep fried, then no. We did find a loophole for Chinese food though, but I still think I will stay away due to sodium.0
