anyone here get stressed out over other people?

I have a brother who is bipolar and a significant other who is clinically depressed. I find that when things are going poorly for them, I take worse care of myself. Like tonight - SO was depressed, very much so, and I overate by thousands of calories.
I have a therapist, and she says that other people's stress belongs to them, and not to me - but I can't help but be upset when someone I love is going through a rough time, and then I treat it like my own rough time - overeat.
Anyone else here eat because of how their loved ones are doing?

I do that too. My son has depression and anxiety. He was even hospitalized recently due to the depression. During that week, I didn't give the first thought to what I was eating and we had to travel to visit him so I just ate road food. I have social anxiety and depression myself. I would just sit and think about what he was going through, not going to the gym as I didn't want to be around people.0
