Hi, I just found this group and joined today, so I thought I'd introduce myself. I just turned 43 and have been post-menopausal for 5 years. In 2006 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and went through surgery, chemo and radiation. My oncologist saw several red flags and suggested I get tested for the BRCA1 & 2 genetic mutations. I tested positive for one of the BRCA2 mutations, which put me at increased risk for both breast cancer and ovarian cancer, so I opted to have my ovaries removed in 2007 and have been menopausal ever since. Hot flashes, night sweats, dryness, the works.
I've also noticed that with menopause, my weight has shifted around to different places and it has been more and more difficult to keep it off. My belly in particular seems to be a new favorite place for fat to take up residence.
I had been running on a treadmill at lunchtime but that didn't seem to be doing much for me, so about a week ago I started hauling my sorry butt out of bed at 5 am to do the TurboFire workouts. I'm sore and exhausted and feeling extremely out of shape and uncoordinated, but I'm hoping to start seeing improvements in my core strength and overall toning.
Looking forward to reading more of the posts here and seeing how you're all doing.

Hey Girl:
I want to know the same I am termed perimenopausal due to taking steriods for addison's disease but I opted not to take any hormones and just let nature take it course. Weight gain has been an issue but I really hat the night sweats and hot flashes. Hope you get some good responses to this, but us type 1's have to be more careful than most other groups.0 -
Well, fancy meeting you here!
Yup, T1, cancer survivor, mutant genetics...I'm definitely at the shallow end of my family's gene pool! LOL0 -
