Is it better to run one morning and at night the next day or to take an extra day off and risk losing momentum?

First off, I LOVE your avatar! I have a little adipose stress toy on my desk next to me

To answer your question (with my 100% opinion, non-scientific answer), I would say it depends where you are in the program. I tried running two days in a row in week 2 or 3, and ended up straining a muscle and not being able to run for a week and a half (which REALLY threw me off!)

But now that I am going into week 7, I'm confident enough to run 4-5 days a week rather than 3. From this point on, it's straight runs and not intervals, and so long as I warm up/cool down and stretch before and after, I think my body can handle more frequent running. I don't think I would risk it early on though. Give yourself rest days in between workouts until your body gets used to regular running!

    That's my two cents :)

Running two days in a row is fine. If you want to stretch it out longer by doing a morning run and then an evening that would be fine also.I usually break it up and do a longer run one day and an easier run the next. I normally feel better on the first day running after a rest day. Always take your rest days though.

Thanks for the replies. A couple of websites make it sound like I will spontaneously combust if I skip a rest day before the end of the program.
