Took the crossfit plunge

3 years ago I met a trainer that was a professional crossfitter and talked about eating paleo. I thought she was nuts but was intrigued. A year ago I tried a groupon for crossfit but only did 4 sessions and my shoulder pain was so bad I would take a cooler with me with ice packs so I could immediately ice after the workout. I ultimately decided I was too broken as most every exercise hurt and made it impossible for me to get much benefit from it. So I did other workouts. Kickboxing and bodypump.
Jan 1 I went paleo in desperate move to lose weight and I read about how grains were inflammatory.
By the end of the month, I was no longer icing or taking nsaids. I dropped weight like magic and am stronger than ever.
So.... I bought another groupon for a crossfit on ramp class. Finished the 2 week trial and felt strong. My shoulder bothered me a little, but something I think I can work with. Still no drugs or ice.
So I signed up for a 3month minimum. I am pretty sure I'll be addicted. It is damn expensive, but I'm trying to release my inner mark sisson... And get that body fat even lower. I might gain weight and that would be fine so long as it is muscle.
I did before and after photos and bf% test when I did paleo alone... I am going to do the same with my crossfit. Tomorrow I get my bf% tested again and will take a photo. I'll republish in 3 months and I'm hoping for greatness . At 165 a month, this better give me abs

Good luck... I will be watching for the update.0

Good for you. In addition to being crazy expensive, the crossfit in my town is hardcore über athletes and very intimidating. I joined a smaller functional fitness gym that gives me nice personal attention when I actually show up. But I think I'll switch to crossfit eventually.0

Yes the culture of the gyms varies quite a bit. We probably have 8 different crossfits within a 20 minute radius. Some are very intimidating - others are much more welcoming and supportive.
regardless if one does crossfit - it is important to do non-isolation heavy weight, which I was doing but I think my body will respond very well to this intensity. (and I am a naturally competitive person and enjoy the push of having others around me)0 -
Enjoy the CrossFit! I started CrossFit back in October and really like it even though I still need to scale pretty much everything.
I'm currently dealing with some shoulder pain due to CrossFit. It's helping me to learn to keep my shoulders in a good position that's for sure.
Have the coaches given you some mobility exercises for your shoulder? Hope it feels better soon.0 -
tabby...
Currently, my shoulder feels awesome. I only baby it a little bit - but the elimination of grains, seems to have healed it. Thrusters and lots of kb work does make it tender but only for an hour or so after the workout.0 -
I've been thinking about cross fit for the winter months. I'll be curious to hear your review!0
