advice for pre-work out snack

What have you found to be the best pre-work out snack? I find myself hungry by 3:30, try to work out by 5pm.....options???

I usually try to eat something light before i work out. or drink a protein shake!0

I usually try to have half of a banana and a little pit of protein and a glass of water an hour or so before I work out. And then post work out I will have a protein shake.0
