MAX Insanity!

Hello all...

I haven't checked in for a while... last week was my recovery week and I was on holidays so workouts were not as consistent. :ohwell:

I just started my second month of Insanity on August 5th. The first workout is a doozy! Its a full hour, and I burned over 550 calories! :drinker: But the second and third were not as hard (IMO) or as long... However, I totally strained my back after the first one so I have been taking it a little easy to try and let my back recuperate. So maybe once I am able to really go full tilt I'll think differently.

Has anyone else started the second month yet? Tonight will be my "recovery" night and then I'm hoping by tomorrow I'll be ready to push hard through the workouts to get the maximum burn!

I also saw that someone posted about the Insane Abs workout... I haven't tried it yet, and I don't think it's on the schedule, so maybe I'll throw it in with the MAX Plyo workout, since it's the shortest one. I wasn't a fan of the Cardio Abs video and ended up subbing P90X Ab Ripper in for those instead. That's a heck of a burn!

Keep going everyone!

I'm in recovery this week. A bit nervous about starting max intervals, but I shall push thru!

Now that you have been doing it for a couple of weeks, how does it feel? Stil the same as day one or a bit easier, I'm curious to know!

    Hey!

Glad to hear someone will be joining in my pain! (kidding...)
I'm in the middle of my second week now... and I can say that much like the first month, things get better as you go, but its still SO hard! I spent most of last week dealing with a strain back muscle or muscles that meant I had to take it a little easy to make sure it healed up. That being said, my advice would be to take it easy on your first workout back after the recovery week... I think that's what did it to me - I just pushed way too hard. Your first workout back is a full hour, so be prepared. :)

Anyway, 10 days into the second month, I feel great! I like the new routines and there's some new moves. And compared to the first month I sweat like crazy in these workouts, more than I ever have in my life! Be prepared for A LOT of push-up/plank type exercises! Your shoulders will be screaming but it's worth it for tank top season. :)

Can't wait to hear how you do!

I had to drop in and tell you about the Max Sports Interval work out. WHAT FUN!!! It's kicking your @ss without you even realizing it! Lots of different exercises. The best/hardest was the "ladder sprints". If you haven't done it yet, then it's something to look forward to... and if you have done it, did you love it as much as I did? Maybe I just thought it was great because it wasn't the typical intervals like the other videos.

Anyway... for those who have tried it... what did you think?!?

LOVE that workout! I'm definitely going to be subbing some of the Month 2 workouts for this one as i'm not enjoying Month 2 as much , still, it's early days, things could improve.. but yes Max sports is a lot of fun, Shaun T is practically dancing in this one

adjoa - So glad i'm not the only one out there who enjoyed that workout! I'm actually looking forward to Thursday when I can do it again!

I'm finding this second month to be much harder to find motivation more than anything else. I still enjoy the workouts, and they're STILL kicking my butt!!! But it's harder to devote that full hour to the workout, and I find myself procrastinating a whole lot more this month. I imagine it is a lot of factors that are affecting this - beautiful weather outside mixed with earlier sunset so there's less time to enjoy it, the inevitable end of summer marked by back to school commercials and the Toronto CNE... there are just so many distractions! I haven't strayed though! Except for not doing my Fit Test this past Sunday. I did the workout though, as I figured that was the more important thing. I'll probably do the Fit Test today even though it's my recovery day.

I must admit though, I'm getting frustrated with my progress... or lack there of. My frustration is in the fact that I haven't noticed any changes from doing Insanity. No weight loss, no inches lost, no clothes fitting any differently. I know I was in pretty good shape before starting due to the other videos I had done, but to see NOTHING change after 50 days of the program makes it hard to keep motivated. Especially since the program damn near kills me every time I do it! Anyone else experiencing this? From the posts I've seen, it looks like most people are seeing losses either in inches or weight.

Yep im finding it harder to motivate myself month 2 aswell i always said i didnt want to become one of those ppl that worked out for hours and hours each week. But I'm going to complete it, wanna start what I've finished.

    Sorry you havent seen results, some quick things to consider;

    - according to your ticker you've only got 5 more lbs to lose; closer you get to goal weight the harder it is to lose
    - are you following the 40 40 20 macros suggested?
    - are you eating the amount of calories suggested based on your height and weight - at least roughly?
    - are you estimating calories burnt or have you got a HRM or are you using MFP? Could you be overestimating calories burnt?

Someone posted a really good point a while, you're trusting Insanity to give you a good workout so you may as well trust Insanity to get the nutrition side of things right too...or something to that effect

    hope this helps!

Hey adjoa - Thanks for the response. :) I'm glad I'm not the only one with motivation problems. I always find it hard to start, but once i'm in it I'm fully committed. But I am not a quitter, and I will also finish what I have started! :)

    To answer your questions:
I haven't followed the Insanity meal plan thus far, and I'm of the opinion that that's probably part of why I'm not seeing the results. Perhaps if I decide on a second round I will follow the eating a little more closely.
I have been tracking my calories (most of the time) based on the Insanity calculation though... by their calculation I should be eating somewhere around 2200 cal, whereas MFP has me at 1240 or something. And even with my calorie burn I'm nowhere near 2200cal. I would say I eat about 1600 after exercise. So depending on who you believe (MFP or Insanity) I'm either really over or really under.
I have a HRM that I wear every time, and I would hope it's giving me an accurate read...
And as for my macros... I would say most days i'm pretty close... protein and carbs are where I struggle. they seem to flip flop a lot.

So, I'm not taking anything away from the videos, because I believe that my stamina has improved and I'm sure it's not hurting me by doing the workouts... but a little something (an inch here or there) might be nice. :)
