Oh crap, I am losing my mind

To recap my saga, I started on paleo for a while, then fell off the wagon because "just one cracker" turned into "NOMGRAINSSSSS!" So I've been trying to get back on it, and I finally changed my c/f/p ratios to reflect a higher-fat diet. My carbs were already low, but I lowered them a little further. I've done well with the ratios the last couple of days, but today I am out of my mind looking for food. Not even necessarily carby food, and I'm not even truly hungry, but I just WANT. And it's gross things I want, like Vienna sausages. I actually feel like I'm looking for salt, even though I know that I'm getting plenty of sodium.

Tell me this will go away. Because I'm about to choke somebody for some Spam or something. And I'm not even hungry.

I thought I was one of the lucky people who didn' thave a problem with lowering carbs, because when I went from 200+ carbs down to a 90-100 range, I had zero negative symptoms. Only positive ones. So this is weird for me.

I don't get cravings eating paleo/primal; only if i slip and have even the tiniest amount of grain, and then I just want more grain. However, if I were having a salty meat craving, I would have some healthy meat and put lots of Himalayan pink salt on it. Maybe canned salmon would help?

I'm not sure anyone else found this, but when I eat grains now I feel like crap. I feel lethargic, tired and I have a difficult time concentrating. I knew I had lactose intolerance, but until I went off grains I didn't know there was this other side of life where I wake up feeling like I actually slept, I have tons of energy throughout the day, I can concentrate and the anxiety I once had is almost gone. When I want to cheat with some pizza, I know I will feel like crap so it's not worth it. I honestly don't think a little grains once in a while as a treat is going to hurt you as long as you jump right back on Paleo and move forward after the treat. I don't see Paleo for me as another diet, but something I will embrace for the rest of my life. I just feel better! Good enough for me.

Me too. I had some cake at a party after switching to paleo and my guts decided that they were going to spend the rest of the evening pushing it from one side of my stomach to the other fighting over how best to deal with it or something. It sucked. As for the carb cravings- I find sometimes I want carbs and I feel better if I eat some fruit. Better than I wuld have if I had eaten bread for sure. I sometimes end up going over my 100ish goal because of this but I think going over because I ate a banana is 1000 times better than because I had a slice of bread. Also- wont trigger the "nomnomgrains" episode. If that doesn't work maybe making some meals similar to the ones you miss but paleo/primal-fied will satisfy you?

After a wonderful full month of primal eating, I went on a road trip and was great the first half of the trip, then had some Pirates Booty ("healthy" corn puffs) a muffin, then next day a danish, some pizza, not a ton of grains, just SOME grains, and to top it off burger with the bun....Boy! Did I pay for it. Bloating, heartburn, lethargy, grogginess. Couldn't stop sleeping. Felt like HELL for a week. I was shocked by my body's response. The heartburn was relentless. Not going there again!!
