body fat percentage

This is so depressing! I went to see my naturopath today and he had me stand on one of those sets of scales that measures body fat percentage. Mine came up as 38 per cent, which is clinically obese! I can't believe it. I am 151 pounds, 5 feet 4 inches and otherwise pretty fit. I'm trying hard to lose weight but it's barely happening at all. I'm continuing to try but the weight creeps off so slowly that the pattern I've been in for the past 9 or 10 months is just throwing in the towel every 3 of 4 weeks because I can't see results. I really need to stick with this and try to get that body fat percentage down :(

remember that is just a scale! there are more accurate ways to measure you body fat, one by using CALIPERS, which the average person deosn't have. or you could use this site with the formulas, http://www.wikihow.com/Measure-Body-Fat-Using-the-US-Navy-Method
then see how you numbers are, there may not be much difference, but at least you will know you are calculating it correctly. Because it all depends on your age, height, weight, male or female etc., alot goes into figuring this number!

Our bodies need a ciertain amount of body fat to function properly, especially women. Just dont' get too discouraged by the number from your doc.
