Prone Cuban snatch - alternatives?

I attempted to do this exercise last night and the pain in the boob'age area from leaning onto the bench was too much to bare. I ended up trying to do the movement in a sort of bent over row form but it killed my shoulders....do I just need some cheese to go with my whine or does anyone else experience this?

Also are there any alternatives to this exercise?

I've done these and YTWLs bent over at about 45 degrees.

And yeah it hurts, make sure you're using tiny weights! This exercise is primarily for your rotators, your back or triceps are secondary in this movement.

I noticed the same thing at first, but somehow, I've adjusted to it. When I first lean over, I do have to adjust a little to make sure I'm comfortable before I pick up the dumbbells from the floor though. Not like I'm groping myself or anything like that, but just shifting my body weight before I get started.

Putting a towel under my knees so I don't slide at all helps too, so I can stay in one position once I get comfortable.

I think you can also do them with a swiss ball, but that seems just as awkward to me.
