I have a few questions. Is it helpful to buy the cookbook? Is it ok to use frozen fruits/veggies? What's a good (not too $$$) protien powder? And the recipes, should I only eat one serving (ie 1 c soup) and fill up on veggies or eat the main dish (more than one serving soup, meatloaf, egg muffin...) until I'm satisfied? And where can I find kefe? I do most of my shopping on base. Thanks in advance for any help! Also, any advice or lessons learned for a 17DD newbie?

The cookbook is a nice to have but is not a necessity. I have only made a few things from it so far. Yes, you can absolutely use frozen fruits and veggies. I was told whey isolate is the type of protein to get, as for brand, everyone has different tastes and price points. A lot of people get Body Fortress from Wal-mart. I buy Kaizen from Costco (Canada) it is about $50 for 2kg there. The rule for how much to eat on cycle 1 is pretty much eat if you are hungry! As long as it's lean protein or veggies, you can have as much as you want. Kefir is really hard to find, and likely won't find it at a base grocery store. It is basically liquid yogurt, and I found it once in the health section of a grocery section. You don't have to follow his menu plan, in fact if you follow it to a t, you will be too short on calories. make sure to eat 1200 calories per day at a bare minimum, and in fact I would recommend calculating your TDEE (google it) to get a better idea of how many calories you should be eating. What's not in the book is that 1 TBSP of unoiled nuts can count as one of your friendly fat servings.0 -
if you can't find kefir you can use a blender on liquify with regular yogurt to create a pseudo-kefir0

I love the Jay Robb protein powder because not only does it taste good but it's made with Stevia. It can be a bit expensive in the stores but you can order it online and if you do it on an autoship program its free shipping and only costs $19 a bag plus tax.0
