OK so I was reading up on some info I found on the internet. And now I have a couple of questions, and I'm hoping that someone here might be able to help me out. I have found a website that says that morbidly obese people should only eat between 800 to 1500 calories a day, yet MFP sets my goal at 1750 a day, can anyone tell me what I should be doing?
While I was trolling the web I came across something and wanted to see if anyone has ever heard of it, tried it, or anything. It's called Mini Gastric Bypass, No Surgery Weightloss Formula. Any opinions on this?
Here is the link to the site that says calorie intake for morbidly obese: http://www.livestrong.com/article/375279-safe-weight-loss-plan-for-the-morbidly-obese/
Link for the mini gastric bypass thing: http://mini-gastric-bypass.me/Mini.aspx

I would stick to MFP, it works, look at the success stories, quick fix things like surgery work at first, but long term, people tend to go back, your best bet is to stick to this, learn to adopt a new healthier way of living, that will allow you to lose weight also, it will also teach your children a healthy way of life.0

oh i understand the whole surgery thing.....and i know surgery is definately not an option for me due to all the health risks, i'm not willing to take them. this mini gastric bypass formula is supposed to work like the surgery as far as making your stomach pouch smaller, making you eat less. I was just curious if anyone on here has ever tried it.0

Their website doesn't explain what's in their "propietary blend". I'd stay away from anything that doesn't list the actual ingredients.
It sounds like a powder that you mix with liquid, drink, and then it fills you up all day so you don't eat as much. Those mystery ingredients probably form some kind of solid in your stomach that digests suuuuuuper slowly. I'm picturing something like gelatin (not Jell-O). The powder probably has a thickening agent in it. They list gas and dehydration as side effects. Yuck.
You can get the same effect from drinking lots of water and eating high-fiber foods, without all the mystery chemicals or expense.
As for the calorie restriction, no one should eat fewer than 1200 calories without a doctor's supervision and should never, ever go under 800. Your doctor needs to be involved to ensure you're making the most use of those calories (i.e. vitamins/nutrients instead of 800 calories worth of junk). A lot of people will yell and scream about BMR and TDEE, but when it comes to morbidly obese people, 1200 is okay. I recommend easing down to it, though. Going to 1200 overnight is a bit of a shock to your body. If you decrease your calories every week (2000, 1900, 1800, etc), your body will have time to adjust.
Personally, my doctor has me eating 1800 calories per day (I was 344 pounds the last time he saw me). I hardly ever eat that much now. I usually finish the day at 1400-1500, and my weight loss hasn't stalled like it used to at 1800-2000. Everybody is different, though, so you'll need to find the number that works for you. I have an appointment next week, and he might decrease my calories, depending on my weigh-in and if he thinks it's okay.0
