New here, glad to find this group. I am new to MFP, still figuring it all out, still deciding how to approach the weight loss, methods to use, etc. right now, just for now, i am eating very low calories, just to "snap out of it" and stop bad habits, and learn new habits, from scratch!! Like erasing all my old habits, and replace them with new eating habits.

My plan is, to eat low calories, and as i approach my goal weight, i plan to begin to level it out a bit, and study how many calories i will need to MAINTAIN the weight loss.

Are many members here losing their weight on right on schedule, steadily, on 1200 per day?

Anyone doing well maintaining the weight loss?? Everyone is saying i won't be able to MAINTAIN the weight loss on lower calories, are you finding this to be true?

I've been on 1200 cals for 2 months and I am down 34 pounds. I've had nice steady weight loss with the weeks of my "woman time" losing just a little less.
I know so many people don't believe me(hopefully here it will be different) but I'm rarely hungry. If I have a harder workout I might get a little hungry and so I will eat a little more. I don't think I have EVER had to eat more than 50-100 of my exercise calories.
The way I look at maintenance(a ways off for me) is I will deal with it when the time comes. If I gain 5 lbs back while I'm adjusting calories then I gain 5 cals back and will lose it again.

thank you Sds, i do believe you. and KUDOS on the weight loss!! wow!:drinker:

I rarely get hungry either, it is the same for me. Lol, for me, i get hungry AFTER i eat! rofl. It's always been that way for me, always. Even back when i was a runner, and very fit and slim, for decades, i usually only ate once a day, in the evenings.

So i only eat in the evenings, is lifelong habit for me. If i eat in the daytime, it sets off hunger, and then "it's off to the races!" , my stomach wakes up and yells "more more more" and then, i can end up grazing all day long.:ohwell: So i usually 'save' most of my calories to 'spend' in the evenings.

Plus, once i eat, i tend to feel less energy, :ohwell: and even sleepy, (the way lions do, too ha ha)
so for me, eating once a day, in the evening, both helps me sleep, helps me feel more energetic during daytime hours,
and saves me from grazing all day long.

I have some cardiac restrictions:love: on how much activity i can tolerate, so i do not have very impressive exercise routines going on (not yet, anyway, but hopefully, losing weight will help my heart valves function better)

I lost 105 lbs in 21 mths eating approx 1200 cals a day exercising 6 days a week, mostly walking, bike riding and exercise dvds and not eating back my exercise cals. I have been on maintenance for about 3 mths and have been doing fine. I am now thinking of maybe trying to lose 10 more lbs, but want to still focus on toning loose skin, I dont have much and it is getting better. Hope this helps answer your questions but i think everyone is a little different and you need to find what works for you

I'm on my 3rd day of reducing my calories to 1200 but I'm finding that since I'm focusing on eating the right food, its actually HARD to get to 1200 calories! The crap foods really add up. I had scrambled eggs with cheese and 2 turkey sausage links for breakfast, I'm having a huge homemade taco salad for lunch with sour cream and salsa. Dinner is going to be a tuna melt on ezekiel bread and roasted green beans. I feel fuller now at 1200 calories than I did at 1500-1600/day. I can't imagine eating back 300-400 exercise calories a day at this point.
