I am 41 year old mother of 2 girls (10 and 7) I am always on the go. I thought I was perfectly normal until November of last year. I had to have surgery and during pre-admission testing it was discovered I was anemic. I went to a hematologist to have clearance for surgery - She felt from my history - of Long Heavy Periods I was Iron Deficient Anemic. She put me on Iron 3 times a day - 325mg each time. When I went back to her in January - my iron and hemoglobin were in normal limits but my ferritin was still in the low range but much better - I was to continue on Iron 2 times a day. In June again - doing great in the anemic area. My Primary Dr. in the mean time was badgering me and wanted me to come in for a check up based on my labs she got in june. I explained I had been followed by the Hematologist that she didn't need to address them but she insisted I come in. I went in August - She ordered routine Cholesterol and Metabolic/Thyroid Panel for baseline. Well I get a call that my TSH level is 10. I tried to explain about the Anemia - and she didn't want to listen to that saying they have nothing to do with each other - But what I am reading - says different - Do I go ahead on my own and make an appointment with an endocrinologist? Do I consult my Hematologist and her her input? Kinda not sure what to do. I had no symptoms of either issue before my lab work was done - and would rather know the complete picture I am dealing with then to play games.

I think you should see an endocrinologist. Take all of the information you have so far and let him/her provide you with some guidance. You have a lot going on. Hope you get some answers.

Definitely see an Endochronologist as they are the hormone 'specialists' and as the poster above me says, do take every piece of info you have with you. Good luck x

I agree as well. Have your primary and Hematologist send all the info to your Endocrinologist. Our endocrine systems are tricky and like to play havoc with other systems in our bodies. Good luck!
