Starting CLX tomorrow!

Hey guys! I just found this group and so excited! I'm starting CLX tomorrow... going to do the Fit test today. I'm slowly trying to build up my free weights collection, I have some from years ago that are 3 and 5 lbs... and I just bought 8 lbs the other day and I'm thinking of picking up 10 lb ones today after watching the first Burn Circuit. [Those Bowflex ones are too expensive for me!] I know the weight will be different for every person, but I'm curious how heavy some people had to go for their weights...

Let me know!!
Thanks!
-Crystal

For the Burn phase, I used 5, 10, and 15 lbs. I'm currently on week 3 of Push. Now I'm using 7, 10, 15, 20. I also picked up 2lb (4 lb set) of wrist weights so my highest weight so far is 22 lbs. To give you a point of reference, I used 1 and 3 lb weights for Jullian Michael's 30 day Shred, so I had really pathetic upper body strength!

I bought a set of Xmarks adjustable weights (5-25 lbs) and a set of (10-50 lb) of Bayou adjustable weights, which I haven't needed yet. Both are much cheaper than the Select weights. I know some people have picked up adjustable weights from Target and such. I ordered mine from Amazon.

Barbells are much cheaper than adjustable weights but you will have to stop the Dvd a lot to change the weights. I love the program and hope you enjoy it!

I am starting tomorrow as well. I have 5, 10 and 15 pounds I am starting with. It's what I already have on hand. I have some three pound ones but they are super light so I don'[t think they would challenge me enough.

Congrats on starting!! I'm in month 3 and love it so much :) The highest I've used so far is 20lbs. In the Push phase, you'll definitely need heavier than 10s (you need to fail between 6 - 8 reps, and by month 2 you should be getting pretty strong so 10 won't cut it). I got the PowerBlock adjustable weight set (actually a bit cheaper than Bowflex AND they have better reviews) and although expensive, it was an investment and worth every penny. They take up so little space and allow you to go really heavy! Best of luck on your journey and I can't wait to see your progress :)

How do you like the Xmarks? I was thinking about buying those.

I love, love, LOVE this program and I think you will too!!!

My favorite phase has been the Push Phase just because I loved being able to really focus on each specific muscle and being able to go heavier than I ever thought I could.

Keep us posted on how you like it!

    I just finished week 1.
I have 2,3,5,8,10 lb, and need to get some 15 and 20's. I looked at the selecttech, very cool, but way too expensive for me. Will check out the XMark.

Its a great workout so far!! "let's get extreme y'all"!!

Kicked it off today with my 5, 10 and 14 pounds and I think those are good choices for me. Today went well..I think I'm going to really like this program.

Kicked it off today w/ 3, 5, 8lb but should have bought a 10lb to try....Does anyone know if you can buy 12lb weights?

Tomorrow is a rest day but I plan on doing one of her stretch routines from TF early and then going to the Y to a step class in the afternoon. I did however put the scale away for a week or so as I'm not going to let the scale play w/ my head, just in case it goes up while i start a new program....

Anyone else done the entire program before? how did you handle the days of 'rest"?

I've seen 12 pound weights in my gym so they exist.

I got my free weights on amazon.com. They have 12 lbs there but I just got 15lbs instead.

My first rest day was today. I did Abs 10 and Stretch 40 from TurboFire. Excited for Burn Circuit 2 tomorrow!

I seem to be at a stand still for tricep extentions. 7.5lbs....can't do it with proper form with 10lbs. I am having the same issues with delts. I am in the PUSH phase.

I'm in the push phase using 10, 15 and 20lbs. However, the 20 lbs are NOT heavy enough for lower body work and I don't have anything heavier at the moment. Unfortunately I can't afford heavier weights right now (the heavier they get the more expensive and I need at least 30's if not more...), so I need to see if I can figure something out to increase the weight...I need bigger hands so I can hold two different weights in one hand! haha! Maybe if I bungee cord some weighted milk jugs to my 20's....hmmmmmmm

    I forgot to mention…I am using 7.5lbs – 22.5lbs. I am week 2 circuit 2 of PUSH.

Today was Burn 2 and it was good. I found though that I do need some heavier weights for some of the exercises, esp the lower body ones. I also like how she does some of the shoulder work but turns the weights a different direction then they want me to turn them at the Y....however I have bum shoulders so her way is better.....hmm...how to tell the guys at the Y that their way is not cool for me...

Tomorrow is ab and something else....I'm feeling a bit sore from the squats today (esp that bowler one) and then I did a routine on the treadmill...

Are you guys following her meal plan?

I'm not following the meal plan. I just keep up with my calories here and try to cut out processed foods. I didn't do the rest day on day #2..I went ahead with the second workout, simply because our weekends can be crazy here and I have decided that it would be easier for me to do the 5 days through the week and then squeeze in cardio for Saturday if I get a free minute. Today I did burn 3 and it's a great lower body workout. I do need some heavier weights. Mine are only to 14 which are not really heavy enough for my lower body. the Abs was a great workout and so was the other one yesterday.

Have you guys looked ahead to the end of this Burn phase? If you started it on a Monday then you end on a Tuesday but who wants to start a new phase on a Wed......not sure how to handle that one....Might skip out on the last 2 days of 'burn' and just do 28 burn and on day 28 weigh and measure.....then I could start the next phase on a Monday...

Tomorrow I do Burn 3...and probably some treadmill hill routine later in the day.

She hasn't change my mind about push ups though....I still hate them!
