Newby feeling out of sorts. I love athletics and have been going to the gym regularly for three years now. During this time I purposefully decided to not focus on my weight but rather on fitness. The time has come that I will not reach a healthy level of body fat without cutting some calories from my diet in addition to my workouts. The problem for me is that when I cut calories (even a little bit) I go into a mental state that is unhealthy for me. I think way too much about food. I imagine stuffing every crunchy salty thing from the pantry into my mouth as quickly as possible (and in the past have). I feel obsessive and overwhelmed. I am hoping this feeling will pass as I adjust to having a calorie deficit. In the past this feeling is what has kept me from trying to lose weight. I want to work through these feelings in a healthy way rather than giving up and settling for being overweight. If you have felt this way how do you cope and move forward while still counting calories? Did the feeling's decrease after you had been at it for awhile? Are there any resources that you recommend to me?
