Dietary Guidelines - Carbs

Has anyone have feedback on dietary intake changes for women who are approaching, in or been through menopause?
They suggest the following:
Carbs - 40%
Protein - 30%
Fat - 30%
These suggestions are made due to the 'fact' that our bodies slow down in the digestive department (among other areas). Carbs will more easily be turned into fat. I found this on the "LiveStrong" website.

I don't know that carbs are more easily turned to fat,
but, carbs are often easier to break down for immediate energy.
I think it is excess calories can be turned into fat.
I think it is about calories.
I know others on MFP will argue,
but, a calorie
is a calorie
is a calorie.
If you eat TOO MANY calories,
whether it's carbs, proteins, or fats,
you will gain weight.
If you do not eat enough calories,
whether you are eating carbs, proteins, or fats,
you will lose weight.
some ppl may prefer a high or low carb diet, or a high protein diet, or low fat diet, or whatever,
but,
no matter which macro nutrient you are spending the bulk of your daily calorie allotment on,
if you eat TOO MANY calories,
you will gain weight.
Weight loss is about calories.
Even a person in a coma can lose weight,
if their tube feed is not sufficient enough calories.
Yet,
exercise is key to overall health and fitness.
that's my two cents anyway. GOOD LUCK!! I say, experiment around, and see what works best for YOU.
Maybe you will feel more satiated on a high protein diet.
Maybe you will enjoy the larger amounts of food you can chew on a diet full of fruits and veggies.
Maybe you will be one of those ppl who need to spend some of their daily calories on an occasional treat to keep from feeling deprived.
(BTW
WHEN I USE THE WORD "DIET" i mean as in dietary intake, not necessarily a weight loss eating pattern..........as in, "The lion eats a diet of zebras and deers." or "Wild horses eat a diet of grasses and plants."0 -
If YOU personally, find foods you do not digest well anymore,
of course,
you would probably feel better avoiding those foods.
I can not digest onions. but, i never could. Onions make me feel very bloaty and burp.
If someone's digestive track is slowing down,
both exercise
and increasing fruits and veggies,
and drinking more water,
might help with that problem.0
