Rules rules rules, what are the rules?

I think we need before after pics and weights, what measurements are people concerned by? and if we're gonna do bf% we should have a universal measure like the us marine one, not everyone will have access to calipers or machines or whatnot.

what is the marine one? i usually use a weight/waist calculation to figure out BF% here is the link I use for the calculator http://www.bmi-calculator.net/body-fat-calculator/ is there a more accurate way without the calipers or machines?

I'm not competing so take that into consideration when I offer my input. I am joining the group to watch and root people on. I'll still offer suggestions though:

I think that due to variance in bodyfat measurements you might just want the judging to be appearance based only. Have pre-determined poses for before pics as a requirement, such as at least 1 front pic, 1 back pic, 1 side, or perhaps 1 of each flexed and relaxed. The judges should have some input on this but you'll want it to be simple yet complete enough that you can get a good indicator of progress.

I think people should each make 1 thread in here with their name in the title, and cut log,and whatever else they want to use in the title (Ex: Sidesteals 8 week cut. Get DICED SON!). and they can use that as their own home to log lifts, diet, progress updates, etc etc.

That way people can differentiate between a log and regular questions, or you can sticky all the logs.

    agree with all those suggestions.

I don't think BF% is even required just take the measurements and let the changes in pics show the progress  If you do want to use it though, then a standard thing like th Marine one is a good idea.

Off to start my log. (since I already keep a workout/food log on another forum I'll just copy my stuff in)

BTW I think a lot of people are just confused by the term cutting. Maybe include (weight loss) in brackets?

    http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/body-fat-calculator-usmc (more data)

Top one I got 14.46%, bottom one 13.09%. Don't care which one as long as we all use the same one

I like yours because of the input simplicity & I've worked out the formula for my spreadsheet. As I said, as long as it's uniform it doesn't matter as we're only looking at a change in numbers anyway not the actual numbers.

Use Chris' cause its simpler, if you want to post the other one, it seems to only be 1% difference from what these guys are saying

I'm going to use http://usmc.pftcalculator.com/ just because it only needs 2 inputs and I've already sorted it out on my spreadsheet

Just thinking what the cut off date should be. Don't want to finish 8 week cut and then have to wait another 8 weeks for other people to finish?

If you haven't started by now then no entry? (I'm already up to end of week 3.)

Proposal: maybe it should be a rolling contest. People can join in whenever, and then, at the end of each month (or something), the participants who finished their 8 weeks within that month would be "competing" against each other. So for example, I finish Oct 29th, so perhaps I "compete" with everyone else who finishes in Oct. And so on. Just an idea. I know it's all just for fun and motivation anyway.

Hey, so you all are apparently about 5 weeks in, so I'm REALLY late to the party. Mind if I just hang out and get some ideas? I need to start an 8 to 10 week cut for a prospecitve photo shoot at the beginning of December.

I calculated my bf % using the marine calculator and I came up with a negative %! It says it happens if your waist is small, so clearly not many girls in the marines! The army one does work though.

I was going to start a new thread for my second 8 week cut, but I think that I might as well just keep using the same one. I don't see much point in posting finish pictures from the first phase because you all kicked my *kitten* as far as changing your appearance. good job everybody. can't wait to see whats underneath in another 8 weeks.
