I've read that soy can help with menopausal symtoms, such as hot flashes and skin issues. Has anyone tried it and noticed that it helped? Thanks in advance!! Kim

My twin sister uses it and I never understood why, lol. I guess it is something worth looking into if it will help! How does it help with skin issues? I've developed rosacea (sp?) during this phase of life. Will it help with it?

I started to get night sweats when I turned 40. I had read in a women's health magazine that soy, which contains natural plant estrogen, could be beneficial in reducing menopausal symptoms so I began eating one serving of any soy product per day. Yes, I do believe it hepled me. I do not experience night sweats now unless I eat too many carbs. My irregular periods became regular, my pms mellowed, and I believe I became a little less *****y during the month. I am 57 and have not had any really nasty episodes of hot flashing. It does take a few weeks of regular use to become noticeable. I'm not sure about skin issues. Some of my breakouts were hormonally caused. I think as I get through menopause, my usual monthly breakouts will end. Yeah I'm still getting periods.... Sucks to be me. But I figure I have to be real close to the end.

Rosacea (if it is truly rosacea) usually requires a prescription like tetracycline to keep it under control.

    also, TO THE OP,
soy, large doses long term, may or may not be safe:
    http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-975-SOY.aspx?activeIngredientId=975&activeIngredientName=SOY

//"The use of soy is often discouraged in patients with hormone-sensitive cancers, such as breast, ovarian, or uterine cancer, due to concerns about possible estrogen-like effects (which theoretically may stimulate tumor growth). Other hormone-sensitive conditions, such as endometriosis, may also theoretically be worsened................It is not known if soy or soy isoflavones share the same side effects as estrogens, such as increased risk of blood clots...."//

but, if you think it will help you, if you really believe it works, it just might!!:drinker:

Well, I've tried both the milk and edamame and I am not crazy about either. I'll just stick to a healthy diet and forget about all the latest claims of help from various products.
