RNC Scandal

Wake me if an actual debate springs up out of this mash of paranoid hack rambling, which ironically has managed to sprinkle gasoline on the "it's not us, it's you" partisan squabbling bonfire-- instead of defusing it.
Awesome work.
Hey, Swanny and I were happily reciting 80s rock hits.
But I do have to point out that while the Democrats did elect a former Klansman in Robert Byrd, the Republicans did elect a current Klansman in David Duke. He was even seen as a viable presidential candidate.

This whole thing cracks me up. Without going down the road of who we nominated or elected decades ago, I can honestly say living in Indiana, racism as alive and well in every culture and every race. I know southern democrats who wouldn't vote for Obama because he was black. And the most hilarioius to me is the conservatives I know personally who are now once again playing the victim, saying that just because they don't like Obama, every one shouts they are racist. No, I thought they were racist before when I heard them use words like spick, wetback, coon, and ****** to describe a person. But I guess they left their racism out of the voting booth.
Southern Indiana is the best. Go to Nashville or Bean Blossom and you'll find rednecks with no running water in their trailers with an Obama sign in the front yard. Classic!0 -
Eh, the GOP is lousy with morons. They need to re-vamp their entire primary process so that it's more representative of what the general electorate looks like if they want to field a candidate who has a decent shot of being anything but cannon fodder. They also need to find a way to embrace the technological and scierntific advances of the 20th century (note I say 20th, we're gonna bring them along slowly). For the record, I don't and never have supported Romney and won't vote for him. I'll use my protest vote on a true protest candidate like Jimmy "The Rents Too Damn High" McMillan. Also, I still think you're high. For someone accusing everyone of being high, you sure don't read very well. No where did I say any single third party would get nearly as many votes as Perot, I said "parties" as in the Green Party, Independents, RP supporters, ect. And Paultards? Really? At least they are voting for someone they actually believe in instead of backing someone like Mittens out of pure hatred for Obama. I have never seen more of hypocritical voter choice by the republicans than they just did with Romney.
Fair? In an election? Please. Look at how Stockdale was treated. The reality is that even with glowing media attention, Paul would have flamed out. The whining and wringing of hands by the Paultards has always seemed to me to be the functional equivalent of posters here who start a thread and then get angry when it goes a way in which they did not intend. He's a niche candidate at best who draws on fanatical support that borders on cult-like from the Paultards. And as far as Ron Paul not getting the votes or donations....once again, are you high. With the practical media blackout around his campaign and the fact that all of his donations are grassroots, he did amazing. I don't care if you like RP or not, and I am not sure if I would have voted for the guy, but someone would absolutely have to be stoned out of their mind or a complete liar to say that his campaign was treated fairly.

Running for office and being nominated to leadership within the party are two very different things. He was never seen by the GOP as a viable candidate0 -
A. You went down the race road. No one else. This had nothing to do with race even a little until you brought it up as a Actually, you were the one that insinuated the GOP is against blacks. I just pointed out a case of voter intimidation perpetrated by a black group that the DOJ did nothing about. I didn't call anyone racists in that claim. You have the audacity to talk about toeing the party line, yet you won't even acknowledge this case and the DOJ's indifference to it.
Please tell me what laws they passed to prevent people from voting. I'll brace for the talking points.
You may want to reread the thread. You were the first to bring up race with the Black Panthers.
Logic is another thing that makes him angry.
And I'll make this very quick, simple and easy, since it's just more of the distraction he was aiming for in the first place.
Republicans are pushing for a law that won't allow people to vote without photo id. Not everyone who is eligible to vote has a photo id. This would prevent them from voting.
I know. Crazy talk.0 -

This I have to disagree with. You have to have an ID to buy booze or cigarettes. You have to have an ID to drive. I can imagine that very few people actually cannot get an ID unless they are illegal. For the SMALL majority of those who can't, candidates can bus those people to voting booths for their votes, why not get them ID's. That could be very easy to fix. I'd rather force someone to find an ID, it's not like they don't have 4 years between elections to get one, than have illegal immigrants voting for OUR president.0 -

Stockdale was 121 years old and fell asleep during a debate. And the truth about Ron Paul is that we will never know what would have happened with "glowing" media attention because he didn't even recieve half way decent attention. Come on man, I watched a little bit of theis "democratic" process, and every time the guy would either win or place send or third in a state, they wouldn't even mention his name. Rick Perry only anounced he was running and suddenly began being touted as a front runner. Hell, if Paul placed 2nd or 3rd, Fox news would report on 1-4 without even mentioning his name. "Well we have Romney in 1st, Perry in Second, and Santorum in 4th. It seems the front runners have become apparent!" Hey, who the **** was in third? These are all documented facts that can easily be looked up on youtube if you are bored. Once again, I am not advocating one way or another for Ron Paul, but I really think the RNC has screwed themself with the younger generation by alienating the "Paultards".0 -
Actually, I thought it passed in PA. Now my 96 year old Grandma has to go get a State ID.
It did. Which in no way prevents her from voting. She's just not allowed to vote unless she does something extra. See how that works?
It's basically like watching the republican party play "I'm not touching youuuu!"0 -

I never could figure that out either, but I talked to some friends who lived there and the reason that Bean Blossom and Nashville are blue in an area that you think would be red is because Dems on the most part fund the state and federal parks more than Repubs, and that is their main source of income down there.0 -

Oh, and I forgot to add that actually, one of the few things I usually agree with Reublicans on is their spending on NASA. Few people realize that repubs traditionally fund NASA more than Dems, because they know the innovation leads to technology which leads to profits.0 -

There is not an problem of in person voting fraud. All this does is add barriers to vote for those people who do not have the time or means of getting an ID. And yes, you do have four years to get an ID but the goal is to change this election, not the next.0 -
ha ha party line. oh no, not an injunction, which only came after there was enough complaints. The whole organization should be prosecuted for this and the bounty placed on George Zimmerman. Are you that blind to think that if this had been a conservative group behind this that the DOJ wouldn't have brought the pain to them? Then again, I'm sure you think that MSNBC's lack of coverage of black speakers at the convention last night wasn't planned either.
What have the leaders of the GOP done to prevent people from voting? You libs are so pathetic when it comes to race it's sad.
Your party is the one who fought the civil rights movement
Your the party that elected former clansman Robert Byrd into party leadership
Your party has Joe Biden running around using slavery as a scare tactic
Your party is the one who thinks minorities, poor and the elderly are too stupid to get an ID for voting
Your party seems to think everyone is racist and there is a legitimate need for affirmative action.
Your party is for a abortion. Minorities make up the largest percentage of this infanticide
Many liberals will call any republican minority a sell-out, uncle tom etc because they don't belong to the party
Don't even dare go down that race road until your party stops using it to divide the country.
A. You went down the race road. No one else. This had nothing to do with race even a little until you brought it up as a diversion from the topic at hand. You did it by treating 2 members of a fringe organization as an equal comparison to the republican party. It would be the same as me saying that the democratic party really has their act together by comparing them to the guy who dyed his hair red and shot up a Colorado theater.
B. What has the republican party done to prevent people from voting? Pushed for new laws that would prevent people from voting.
Actually, you were the one that insinuated the GOP is against blacks. I just pointed out a case of voter intimidation perpetrated by a black group that the DOJ did nothing about. Are you for real or just trying to troll? They were black panthers, how else am supposed to describe what happened? I didn't accuse the administration of being racists, I just said they didn't prosecute this case. You were the one that brought up the racial aspect to all of this.0 -

So how is it that a person can not get an I, seriously. . I understand money may be an issue, but then again they are not expensive, you could probably even have a voter ID day where one can get an ID for free. Transportation? There could be free public transportation to the BMV to get one.. I don't think it's unreasonable that a person has to have an ID. Even to their benefit, if they get killed they won't be a John Doe.0 -

Stockdale can even now kill you with his brain. Just like River Tam!Stockdale was 121 years old and fell asleep during a debate. It's because no one ever believed Ron Paul was ever going to do anything other than rally the Paultards to overwhelm a few primary sites and some online polls. Which he wouldn't have. It's a chicken/egg thing, but the entire media played along so I think we can dispense with it being a GOP plot. No one EVER took him seriously other than his followers and a few media outlets when they felt like making it seem like the GOP was even more racist that ever - read the newsletters, yes he was.
My conspiracy theory was that the media jumped on the bandwagon of whoever was the craziest and least likely to actually succeed candidate thereby tying the GOP to the craziest and least likely candidate for as long as possible or at least for a media cycle. Rick Perry? His family owned a f*cking camp called N***erhead! And no one thought this - coupled with his own glaring stupidity - would maybe jinx him as a candidate? Crazy Eyes Bachmann was postulated seriously as a possible nominee repeatedly. Senator Rick Man on Dog Santorum had his day in the sun. We had an African-American front-runner who actually referred to himself as "Black Walnut" and who took to answering questions by simply repeating words "nine-nine-nine"! Mitch Daniels and Tim Pawlenty watched this free-for-all and just kicked themselves. Huntsman, my candidate, stood onstage at debates looking dumbfounded that he could possibly be losing to this cast of escapees from a Troma movie.
Rioght or wrong, Ron Paul's the equivalent to a Ralph Nader or Lyndon LaRouche: someone who runs every year who has no shot of winning despite having a small but fanatical band of supporters and who is treated as such by the media.
Romney won in the end simply because he outlasted the insanity and the GOP did what it ALWAYS does and nominate the guiy whose turn it technically was. Just like Dole. Just like McCain. With what will be the same results: a loss.0 -

Why is the party (parties) who beat their chest most about government getting out of people's lives suddenly interested in requiring forms of identification to exercise rights we've always had to fix a problem that doesn't exist? Hmmmm....
I laugh at this notion that it doesn't happen much. Would you say there are more people who get away with speeding than those that don't?
Why are you against making sure every vote is counted and none are cancelled out due to fraud? People can get ID's, it's not that hard. If you can take the time to vote, then you can take the time to do your part in upholding the integrity of the process.0 -

There have been 10 cases of in-person voter fraud since 2000. DMVs do not maintain the same hours as polling places. If someone is living paycheck to paycheck and is forced to chose between missing work to getting a state ID, it is unfortunate that they will be forced to chose work.

Republicans are pushing for a law that won't allow people to vote without photo id. Not everyone who is eligible to vote has a photo id. This would prevent them from voting.
I know. Crazy talk.
Actually, I thought it passed in PA. Now my 96 year old Grandma has to go get a State ID.
Does she get SS benefits?
If so, then how is she getting them without an ID?
To get government benefits(I'd guess she gets one form or another due to her age) you need an ID.
These issues really are not that hard if you just use the gray matter in your head a bit.
She had a check mailed to her but now she receives it through direct deposit into her existing bank account. It was one that she had before she let her drivers license expire.
Many of these states that have ID laws allow other forms as well. Some allow for provisional ballots in case you don't have one at the time. WI Id law allows for people to get them for free. You can still vote, you just need to prove who you are. It happens, and to say that it doesn't even though there are millions of people who vote is ignoring the laws of probability. I don't understand how this takes away from the process rather than add to it.0 -
I'll brace for the talking points.

look whether voter fraud is a problem or not is irrelevant.. this issue wasnt brought up.. ever.. until after 2010 elections.. and everything swang red..
The truth behind being a citizen to vote was something that america was founded on.. you were able to vote by virtue of being a citizen..
if it were the opposite and the dems were pushing this.. the repubs would be screaming foul and trying to get it struck down also.. that is if it benefite the dems over the repubs.. as it is opposite.. it something they are for..
I just find it hillarious that a party that professes to want to make government so small that "they can drown it in a bathtub." (grover norquist 2010) is pushing for government intervention into someones lives.. I mean last night.. Gov Mcdonald stated that the epa was "the employment prevention agency." making light that government interaction messes with peoples lives..
so.. its rhetoric..0 -
This I have to disagree with. I'd rather force someone to find an ID, it's not like they don't have 4 years between elections to get one, than have illegal immigrants voting for OUR president.
Yep. Sounds just like a republican (or in your case Mandy libertarian).
If you can take the time to vote, then you can take the time to do your part in upholding the integrity of the process.
There have been 10 cases of in-person voter fraud since 2000. DMVs do not maintain the same hours as polling places. If someone is living paycheck to paycheck and is forced to chose between missing work to getting a state ID, it is unfortunate that they will be forced to chose work.
http://www.drudge.com/news/159919/person-voter-fraud-non-existent
10 cases prosecuted, there are many that are reported but not perused, and there are many that don't get caught.
This is not like other crimes because it's very hard to catch and prove the crime was committed. Voting fraud is very hard to catch compared to other crimes.0 -

It builds barriers to the vote, reducing voter turn out in a specific selection of the electorate. Most of these laws are now strict ID laws which provide no other options and the voter is forced to go to the DMV or other government agency to acquire this ID. As said earlier, these offices do not have employed friendly hours and causes people living paycheck to paycheck to choose between missing work and getting the ID. How does this add to the process?
I would also like to add that, when supporting the law, Pennsylvania's Republican Speaker of the House stated that this law will "allow Governor Romney to win the State of Pennsylvania."0 -

Proving your identity with what? A promise? I swear my name is Elenore Smith, please send my SS check to 308 X street, Lafayette, IN. IF it is really that easy then I can imagine many people are getting benefits that don't belong to them.
I don't think asking someone to to show an ID is really that much interference with their life or liberty. I am all about rights, the right to vote especially but I think in a time where there is such a problem with illegal immigration and illegal immigrants conning the system, I don't think asking a person to show ID is a bigger issue. No one is telling them they can't vote, just that they need to show that they are the person they say they are to vote.
Also, getting an ID is so easy, most states allow it to be done online. I know mine does. The person who can't get one can go to the library or use a familiar person's computer to do it. Most BMV's aren't open 9-4 Mon-Fri anymore either. Ours is open on Saturdays and some nights as late as 8pm. There really should be no excuse.0 -

Rhetoric, I think not. If this is government intervention as you put it, then you libs should have noting against it seeing you agree that the gov can force people to buy a product.
I'm a conservative, but I believe people should have a drivers license. Does that make me a fraud? Voter ID doesn't grow the government. Your statement is a reach.0 -
Stockdale can even now kill you with his brain. Just like River Tam!Stockdale was 121 years old and fell asleep during a debate. Once again, I am not advocating one way or another for Ron Paul, but I really think the RNC has screwed themself with the younger generation by alienating the "Paultards".
With what will be the same results: a loss.
We agree on so much, but it was still biased. MSNBC and CNN were right there along with FOX news, so I think it was not only the RNC but just about everyone else as well. As far as RP being a racist, I have never read the newsletters, but I have seen pictures of him as a doctor giving out free medical care to poor black people. And I still think that RP had as much chance as any of the other establishment candidates if given the push. If he was crazy, or racist, or just had off the wall ideas, it shouldn't be up to the media and the RNC to disqualify him the way they did. Give him the same treatment they gave others and let the voter decide.0 -

Please, they would find a way. Plus, if they have a job, what did they give their employer when they were hired? How do they bank, rent movies, drive, buy alcohol?
I have a hard time believing that people could not find the time to get an ID at some point between elections. If they are that close to the edge where an hour or 2 would break them, odds are they are on assistance and would need an ID for that anyway. What you're talking about is the extreme of extreme cases that isn't based in reality
I would bet there are more people with ID's than there are registered voters.0 -

No..... there is much and more you have to know.. you have to know all the information or supply id.. you do neither.. you get no help..
you are talking about getting id, once you have established it.. in my state you have to show an original ss card.. an original birth certificate, and proof of residency.
the older generations do not have that always.. especially as record keeping was bad in the early part of last century. its also been shown that ss records are incorrect some of the time due to typographical errors...
i see your point and know what you talking about.. but the proof for this law is not to stop immigrants but to stop voter fraud.. they are seperate issues.. they may cross at time but are not what is being pushed forward...0
