Just got JMBR and have two questions...

Morning all,

I am very excited because my JMBR has arrived in the post. I am in the UK so I have been waiting for it to be available. I have been through most of the literature and have two things I am a little confused about. I hope you guys can help...

1. In the 'no' foods flax is listed - is this flaxseed? (Somethings have different names US versus UK.)
Because if it is flaxseed, then they are in one of the breakfast recipes?!
I often eat a blend of flax, sunflower, pumpkin & sesame seeds & goji berries and I would be sad if she is saying flax is no good when you want to lose weight.

2. When I start it, I want to do the workouts in the morning and I was after tips from other early exercisers - I wont have time to have breakfast, then do it, so do you do it on an empty stomach or do you have a little snack / part of your breakfast? I read the advice was no snack until the afternoon...

Any help / tips / experience would be very gratefully received :o)

I nearly always exercise on an empty stomach and will have a protein shake immediately after my workout.

I'm not sure about the "banned" foods, because I'm not following the diet plan. I'm in the "eat more to weigh less" camp and low calorie is not just for me. I'm more of an "all things in moderation" eater and aim for a net of around 1550 per day.

I have found Jillian's programs to give good results even when I don't eat what she tells me to.
  • Thanks for your advise Skylark :o)

Do you find it ok on an empty stomach, I feel sick if I run in the morning without breakfast?

I did all of Body Revolution on an empty stomach. I'd just recommend that you hydrate before and/or during the workout. I took quick water breaks in between sets.
  • Ok, thanks yalediv08. You look great by the way on your profile pic, what an inspiration!

Did you follow the meal plan as well or just the exercise regime?

    Thank you again :o)

Thanks! I am feeling really buff after finishing Body Revolution. Trying to keep up with it now! I didn't follow the meal plan. Just ate between 250-500 under my maintenance. I didn't have much weight to lose, so dropping my calories that low was impractical. I do *try* to eat clean food as much as possible, but I do have my bowl of ice cream each night. I got great results even without the diet plan, but I did stick with the workout program, never skipped a day even if I was traveling. Good luck!

    Hi
I noticed the same issue regarding flaxseed.
I say, just eat the flaxseed

And I only have mornings available to me to work out. And I'm hungry and felt I needed energy from breakfast in order to do the workouts. So I would make breakfast and then wait about 1/2 hour to exercise. Otherwise, uh well... I had been close to heaving a couple of times. Sorry if TMI. Some of those workouts were killer! lol.
Then after I workout, I do a protein shake.
Now, on those mornings where I had an appointment and didn't have time to make a breakfast first, I'd do the protein shake first. Then grab a breakfast "on the road".

I hope you enjoy the program. I just finished last week. I really liked it and will be coming back for another round soon.
  • Thank you hollyNhollywood - and Wow! for your profile pic :o)

    and thanks again yalediv08.

Good luck to you both for your next goals. I need to get myself sorted and get going now!

Hi!! We're almost on the same boat. I started the program almost 2 weeks ago - I start week 3 on Monday.
I haven't skipped a day and trying to add some cardio every day (like running) for at least 10-15min. I started with the kickstart plan (workouts + meals) and I dropped 3lbs over the 7 days....not bad!
As far as flax go, I'm sure there are flaxseeds but if you're used to them and like them, as long as you count their calories I don't see why not taking them. I think that everything in moderation should be fine.
Because I started with the kickstart, I needed to do 2 routines a day, so I did 1 early in the morning and the other at night after work. My mornings are usually pretty hectic so I'll wake up and immediately do my routine (without waking my husband or my 2 babies!), as soon as I was done they were all awake and getting ready for school, work, etc.....I have my breakfast at work in my desk in peace! Even if I was starving! I'd much rather do the workout and sips of water and eat quietly at work, than to rush in the morning or having to wake up at 5am just to eat something.
So far, great experience and she really motivates you....I noticed my hips and arms are already changing!! Exciting!!
And don't forget to take a picture of your "before"...it'll be great when you see the end result! Best of Luck!
  • I'm in the "empty stomach, protein drink afterwards" crowd. I get up at 4 AM and start working out by 4:30. I'd feel nauseous if I had something on my stomach while doing these workouts.
