I make red cabbage coleslaw- I think it's nicer than regular. I chop a red onion and shred the cabbage and add full fat mayo (about 3 tbsp), and wholegrain mustard (about 1 tbsp) and mix through.
My fave red cabbage recipe is braised red cabbage, but is so high in carbs (due to the fruit, wine, sugar etc....) but I have made a lower carb version and it came out very nice.
1/2 shredded red cabbage
1 glass red wine
1/2 grated apple
2 tbsp red wine vinegar
2 tsp splenda
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 glass water
simmer on a low heat for at least 30 mins until very soft & sticky. Serve with sausages, roast dinners and baked gammon.0 -
mmm that sounds delish!! guna do that tonight with my dinner! x0

Cabbage is very versatile and a staple in my house.
Sautee in butter
Sautee in butter and add kielbasa
Put in soups and stews
Use in casseroles
It's really endless what you can do with it.0 -
This goes on a great chai-tea-spiced pork tenderloin!
Sautee shredded red cabbage, savoy cabbage, thin strips of onion and julienne granny-smith apple with a splash of white vinegar, garlic, sea salt, black pepper and (wait for it...............)nutmeg and cinnamon.... just a light dusting.
Cook until al-dente. You dont need alot of this but a nice garnish on top of the pork... OH MY GAWD - so good!0 -
Yum, these all sound great! We do an Asian slaw pretty often..shredded cabbage, chopped green onions, sliced almonds, toasted sesame seeds. For the dressing we do an oil based one with a bit of sweetener and soy sauce, dark sesame oil, rice wine vinegar and maybe some red pepper flakes.0

I do my lazyman cabbage roll lasagna with cole slaw or diced up red cabbage.
Substitute the cole slaw/red cabbage for noodles-very good and filling0 -
I love to sautee mine with butter and sausage (smoked, kielbasa, etc)0

One of my favorite throw-together recipes:
It's in the MFP database as Sarah's Cabbage Skillet
Head cabbage, shredded
2 lb ground sirloin
8-12 oz. Deluxe American cheese (must be deluxe, not "cheese food")
1 large jar salsa or 2 cans tomatoes with diced green chilies
salt and pepper to taste0
