I have not run since we were forced to run in gym class back in my school days. I have always hated running. My line was the only reason to run is if zombies are chasing me. I do go to the gym 3-4 times a week and would say I am reasonably fit for 42 y/o.
My husband and I want to start running so we can do the runDisney Tower of Terror 10 miler in September 2013. (We will literally take ANY excuse to go to Disney. ) They have a pace requirement of 16 minute miles, but recommend traininng for 15 minute miles. That's where C25k comes in. Yesterday I got an e-mail the the local Susan G Komen Run for the Cure 5k will be October 20. Even if we start C25k next week, we will only be on week 7 asssuming we do not need to do a week more than once.
Am I being overly ambitious thinking we'll be able to RUN 3.1 miles in seven weeks? I know we could easily walk 3.1 miles. Heck, we have easily walked 10 miles just for the sake of going for a walk or hike. I know we could walk the 5k need be, but it I am going to do this, I want to DO this.
Yes, I am always this long winded in getting my thoughts out and frequently overuse smileys. :blushing:

My first 5k is next Saturday (yikes!) and I just finished Week 5 day 3 today, so I'll only be Week 6 day 3 by race day. I'm okay with it because mine is a run/walk 5k and I expect I'll have to have some walk breathers as I'm not a full 3.11 mile runner yet. I say it's not overly ambitious to sign up.... especially if it's a walk/run 5K. But you said you'd be on week 7, and I believe at that point you are running full time so you'll probably be good to go. Either way, best of luck! And how cool of a way to go to Disney.0

I say go for it! By week 7 you'll be running 25mins straight, even if you only manage that (which is no mean feat!) you'll have got a fair distance. There's no harm in walking some. Why put it off?0
