So we all try to track our calories and manage our macros, but I'm curious about your plan. Not so much how many calories you eat, or your nutrient breakdown, but what are your "go to" foods? I'm trying to expand my typical foods and am always interested in some ideas that fit well into a busy life and a protein and calorie-conscious eating plan. Thanks!

Anyone else feel free to add in too! I'd love to hear what people, who know the basics of nutrition beyond "high this and low that and no this and tons of that" eat on a regular basis.

This sounds eerily similar to "WWJD?"

But I'm interested too, so proceed

This probably isn't going to be helpful, but I don't feel like doing my actual job right now sooo:

I eat out or get takeout like, 8-9 meals a week at a minimum. That is not a typo. So I pretty much eat whatever sounds good, that centers around a decent amount of protein (meat or a meat substitute in every meal, or eggs, limited dairy because i'm lactose intolerant), and fill in the empty space with a starch. So basically, I kind of eat whatever will give me good long term satiety first and then whatever sounds tasty second.

in terms of stuff I actually keep around the house as snacks, it depends on the week, but it tends to look something like:
    Tuna
Salsa (mix it in with the tuna, much tastier than mayo)
    Mini brie bites (trader joes)
    Mini goats cheese medallions (ditto)
Whatever fruit I may have bought at the farmers market this week (lately, pluots)
Sardines in olive oil (but only if I'm willing to listen to mighty *****ing about the smell)
Kashi chewy bars (5-6 grams of protein, 130 calories, not too bad for a little bar and the mocha almond one is pretty good - these are mostly just emergency snacks though, I don't like dry things that much)
    Cans of garbanzo beans/chickpeas
The spinach/kale greek yogurt dip from trader joes - its a bit on the salty side but its good and it kind of satisfies that taste craving for me (I know, it sounds terrible, but it really is good).

In terms of stuff I've actually cooked/prepared lately:
    Steak (on the grill)
    Pinto beans
    Chicken (on the grill)
A gigantic bowl full of guacamole
Mabo Tofu (again, to mighty *****ing and with way more meat than the recipe normally calls for)
Eggs (scrambled, over easy, with veggies, with salsa, whatever)
    Tacos (ground beef, etc)

    Weirdest thing I've eaten lately:
An entire 8 ounce package of smoked salmon. I didn't want the rest of it by the time I was about 4 ounces in, but I was hungry and my husband considers fish something to be eaten grudgingly and as a way to win brownie points.

Best fast takeout from a taste/nutrition perspective:
    Chipotle bowls
Some of the fresh and easy (its a grocery chain) prepared meals are super tasty and good - you can get a pork loin dish for 2, and a side of veggies, pop it all in the microwave, works out very nicely.
