I don't have 100+ to lose, but I so have 50 to lose so hopefully y'all don't mind me joining here. This seems like the most active of the thyroid groups.
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 3 years ago and having no one in real life to relate to makes it hard. So man people think I am hiding behind the diagnosis as an excuse to be fat. I think that is related to the tons of puns on tv along the lines of "I'm not fat, I just have a thyroid condition." Anywho, after hearing over and over if I cut my calories and exercise more then I should lose weight just like everyone else, I quit discussing my situation with anyone. I would just say I'm overweight b/c I love food too much, even though that is definitely not the case.
I have recently started using the zone diet. I read on some thyroid websites that it is a great diet for hypo patients to use and it has really made a difference! I don't crave carbs and sweets anymore, I am eat below my calorie limit and am full literally all day long. There is no calorie counting, just protein/carb/fat proportioning. I have also started using thyro-slim, a metabolism boosting herbal supplement made for hypo patients.
Looking forward to hearing your experiences and hope I can help in any way I can!

Hi, I just joined the group. Is the Zone diet still working for you? I've been interested in it for a while. Good luck and hope things are going well!0
