6 months out

I have been reading tons of discussions in this group....and am a little concerned.

A lot of you, post 6 months surgery, are still only eating between 800-1000 calories a day, yet are burning 300-400 calories a day on top of it.

I am eating about 1100-1200 calories a day. I have a lot of intolerances from the surgery (ALL meats, most dairy, eggs, lettuce, breads/pastas/rice), so I eat a lot of beans and grains, which are high in calories, but also high in protein.

With respect to exercise, I find that when I try to do vigorous exercising like jogging or cardio, my pouch KILLS me and gives me sharp shooting pains, so much so that I feel like falling over. Is this normal? Did anyone else experience this?

I feel as though I am eating too much and doing something wrong, though my nutrionist said that, although they are not worried about calorie counting since we ate waaay too money before surgery, 1200 is about right at the 6month mark, yet I still feel........like it's not right.

Any tips? Pointers? Advice?

From your ticker, it looks like you are doing well. Most RNY people lose about 1/2 their excess weight by the 6 month mark. Keep in mind by the 2 year mark your calorie needs will probably change. The malabsorption of calories will be over so you will either have to cut back on calories or increase your activity. By the end of my losing phase I ate around 2500-3000 calories, but then had to cut back to 1700-2000 when the honeymoon was over (about the 2 year mark).

My main concern is with exercise. I do 40-60 minutes a day of brisk walking. When I try to jog or up the activity, or even walk longer than hour, I get these sharp shooting pains in my pouch.

It's depressing, because I want to be able to incorporate vigorous exercise. I get my exercise through hot yoga and walking, only.

I am 6 months out too and I hit around 1200 cals a day too. I can go over or under depending on the day, but I do exercise a lot. Keep in mind exercise doesn't have to be crazy strenuous to work. So don't run if it hurts. Take a walk - walk your dog for an hour....it counts!!!
