Charley Horses?

The last two nights I've woken up with Charley Horses in just one leg. I am taking my children's complete vitamins every day. This coming week I should get the ok to add the calcium back in and any other supplements as needed according to my informational paperwork from the surgeron's office.

Did anyone else get these? How did you deal with it?

Thanks,
Erin

Make sure your getting all your water in. And with the increase in actvity your muscles need the extra water to help wash out the lactic acid from the increased activity.

Charley Horses were a nightly event for me for months..I felt if I stretched my leg a certain way, I would get woken up out of deep sleep in pain...someone told me to make sure I was getting enough potassium? I started eating 1/2 a banana and it seemed to help. I'm sure getting my protein and water requirement in didn't hurt either.
  • increase your potassium & drink a few ounces of gatorade to balance your electrolites.

Crap...they are sending me to the ER to make sure it's not a blood clot since I am only 10 days post op. :-(

Seriousy I'm going to rant again against children's vitamins. They are not good enough. And you are not saving any money doing so because you need 4 a day, So what's the point???? Too many people have serious permanent complications caused by deficiencies after using children's vitamins. And i'm talking about people several years out. It's not worth the risk.

This is a must read for all gastric bypass peeps:

Nothing wrong with me - just muscle spasms. However I sat in the ER for 4 hours 15 minutes and was forgotten ...and left with bruises on my legs from the leg ultrasounds they did cause the tech pressed so hard into them. I am so incredibly angry with this hospital.

On a side note, I hate the Flinestones and am telling them this week at my follow up I need a better vitamin option...the taste alone makes me gag.
