plication gastric surgery

Has anyone had this type of gastric surgery? Was it covered by insurance?
I'm just a layman but it looks safer to me. No cutting the stomach, no rearranging your gutts. The stomach is folded onto itself then stiched together. Less malabsorption, dumping, no staples (leaking), no bands to go through the walls, etc. This procedure has been around for 10 years, but is new to the US. I googled it.

According to the ASMBS it is considered experimental in the US. From studies I've read its not all that great results wise.0
