Im making the jump and training for a tough mudder (put together an all girl team - we are pumped!)
Anyways I hear that cross fit is great for training but just cant afford to add it to my already crazy expensive monthly gym cost. I hear a lot about WOD... what exactly is this and is it something you do on your own and how do you know what to do?

Workout Of Day
You can usually do it at home with basic equipment but a crossfit gym. You can see them here http://www.crossfit.com/0 -
This is a great website for at-home Crossfit workouts. I use this site when I can't make it to my Crossfit box for a workout. She puts up a new Workout of the Day every day.

A lot of the WODS (work out of the day) that involve body strength exercises can easily be done at home. The weight lifting component not so much.
I did crossfit for 6 months and had to give it up due to my box moving to a new location (not 5 minutes from my house anymore) - with my kids scheudale I simply could not fit in their class times.
However i have taken what I learned there and applied it to my home and gym workouts - I do a lot of "rounds"
So for example
12 push ups
15 box jumps
12 Pull ups (I use the assist machine cause I suck at pull ups)
15 squats
and I will do 3 rounds of this
then my gym has weights available so I do add in the weight portion of training - however since I do not have a coach nor spotters I dont' pull as much weight as I would if I was in a cross fit type class.
I have found the Nike Training App to be helpful as well - you can get an excellent workout with having only a few items on hand (or depending on the workout you choose - no items needed)0 -
thanks everyone!0
