Too much thyroid dose

Does anyone have experience with this? I know there's a few. I'm the "haven't had thyroid since age 13, got thyroidtoxicosis last year from overmedication, etc."
My doctor's been tweaking me for the last year, then I had a huge rash of symptoms within the last month. I see my endo at the end of this month anyway, but went to my primary for... I'll be frank... nonstop diarrhea. She went, "Well... you've lost weight. I think this problem might actually be your thyroid issues again."
Sure enough, just like "last year," I have diarrhea 4-5 times a day, I've become INCREDIBLY anxious/quick-tempered, and my heart is all over the place.
Does anyone else have certain symptoms with OVER medication? Or have experience with stabilizing the drug (I'm on Levoxyl but was on Armour for awhile). I know the problems are usually trying to keep thyroid levels low for most people, but my problem seems to be the opposite as of late.

Yes, I'm going through this right now! My doc is also tweaking my dosage, but slowly... I was just dropped from 45mcg of Armour daily to 37.5mcg (I take two 15s and cut one in half). I'm experiencing symptoms like rapid heart beat, shortness of breath and my right eye is starting to look like it's popping out...
but I do have more energy...my house is clean...laundry done ect. lol

I went through that awhile ago. My dr. over diagnosed the level I needed and I ended up taking a much higher dose than I needed.
It was really strange. I got these uncontrollable twitches....my hands and arms just worked on their own accord and would strike things or lash out on its own. I was driving when that started to happen. I had to shut the car off and park it then call my husband to pick me up because I could not drive with my arms and hands out of control. They literally had a mind of their own.
I also cried at the drop of a hat. I even crumpled to the floor in a fit of tears over something really silly (I forgot what it was now - something with the kids and since I am normally even tempered, they were freaking out).
I also felt "out of sorts"....I hope to never go through that again.
My dr told me that losing weight will not affect my dose nor my under active thyroid.
Personally, I would rather my thyroid be taken out so that I can have an even amount of medication. Right now, I have to test every 3 months for the rest of my life. I've had it for 15 years now....the dr is constantly tweaking my dose.
Listen to your body and let the dr know if you have symptoms. It takes awhile to get the right dose....and even then your body can change and throw a curve ball in the mix.
Good luck!0 -

Yeah, my endo never said anything about weight changing it, but my primary did, so who knows what she's thinking... Lots of the symptoms you said mirror mine during the worst times (when my tsh was 0) back in the day (especially the crazy twitches!).
Now some of these things are coming back, so off to my endo again :P
I wouldn't recommend getting your thyroid outI've read so many different places that it's "easier" to stabilize without a thyroid, but I am living proof that that is not the case. I've been dealing with medication tweaks for nearly a decade.
Women have more changing hormones, no matter what weight, age, etc.0
