For before the fast, im thinking of making a big pot of chicken soup with lots of vegies like leek, celery, pumpkin, zuchhini carrots and ginger. Then some grilled chicken steaks, brown rice and garden salad. We will finish off with pear compote. All traditional not so exotic stuff, but I think it will do the trick.

For after, another big soup, this time split pea and vegies. Might make some fresh challah (will prepare the dough the day before). Maybe baked fish and brown rice again... Not sure what else to make at this stage. Scrambled eggs are an option...

My issue is that I am cooking forKAH a crowd, so I need to fill up my teenage boýs and still stay focussed on portion sizes for myself...

Would love to hear what everyone else is planning...
  • Think of erev yom kippur as a "cheat day" it is a mitzva to eat a lot bofore yom kippur, just as is is a mitzva to fast. For the sake of your healh, you should eat approximatly 1600 calories on erev yom kippur. As 1600 calories is a lot, you should not worry about portioning.
